Chapter 9
Blue's POV (dream)
'The cold rain was slick down my bare back. I shivered, taking cover in one of the abandoned houses. I could hear the sound of distant gun fire. Three days and it didn't let up. It was pointless. I had lost everything. The weather had even matched the battle. The mud strewn field had corpses sinking into the ground never to see the light of day again. Others died from being injured and falling into the trenches.
'My battered body couldn't take much more. My feet cut and blistered, my chest had a large gash from where a machete had gotten me, and it was infected too. I had used my shirt to bandage the wound but soon it wouldn't be enough. Violet was gone now, Red I had no clue where, hopefully not dead. Not even here maybe at camp wondering where I was. I heard a clap of thunder, lightning struck and the earth around me cracked. I fell into mud, giving up would be nice. All this pain ain't worth it, no one should have to go through this. Then I saw someone approach me from behind. He didn't say anything I turned to look at his face. That's when I saw he didn't have one. The entire top layer of skin had been completely ripped off.
"Kill me now! JUST DO IT! THIS IS HELL! KILL ME NOW!" He screamed at me.
"I have no will to live either." I said calmly. He fell to his knees, he was screaming in French then was stabbed from behind. Someone else had found the house. Blood splattered onto my face. Will I die now?'
(Present 3 am)
I screamed, my eyes shot open, my entire body was drenched in sweat. I wrenched the sheets off my body, walking straight to the bathroom, turning on the light. I noticed the look in my eye, that dull, lacking look. Those eyes....the eyes of a killer.
Krista's POV (Home 4 am)
There's no way I can go to school today. I had just up chucked in the toilet. NEVER EVER LET HER TAKE YOU TO THE MALL AGAIN!!! I shouted in my head. With all that candy and liquor that Aurora had shoved down my throat it's a wonder why I hadn't hurled earlier. I could barely remember what happened last night. Aurora dragged me to a bar near the mall then after being liquored up she bought me bags and bags of candy. That's all I can remember. How'd I get home again? Ugh! I'll have to tell Blue I won't be at school today. I put a hand to my forehead. "Oh no...." I muttered, dashing to the bathroom. I promptly puked my guts out. I cleaned myself up and slowly made my way back to my bedroom. I picked up my phone, staring at it sadly then flipped it open and started to text.
-Blue can't come 2day
-Ur awake at this hr?
-Yea Im sick
-U want me 2 come ovr?
-No you go 2 skool ill c u tmrow
-k b careful
-I will
I sighed, setting down the phone. Wait a sec why was Blue awake at this hour? I looked at the clock saying it was 5 am. A teenager wouldn't be awake this early.
-Y r u awake?
-idk
-R u ok?
-Im fine
-Rly?
-Yea
-if somethins bothering u can tell me. Wuz it somethin I did?
-No, juz got stuff on my mind
-Oh... I set down the phone again and fell into an uneasy sleep.
