5. My Partner

It's been almost a month now and our drama assignment is due in three days, so tomorrow we were going to find out who our group partners were. It was the last two periods of the day and i was in my Mechanics class. I wrote down my notes while Seline explained something to the class....ohh yeah Seline has Mechanics class and Physics with me, I found out that she just looks older than Tiffany but she's actually around my age.

It was almost the end of class when there was an announcement from the principal, he said that students would be having a day off tomorrow because of some board meeting with the staff members. There was another announcement being made after the principal finished his. It was Tiffany on the P.A system. She announced that she would like to meet with all the drama students at the dismissal of class. When the announcement was over I turned back towards the board to catch Seline looking at me with a wicked smile on her face, and at that moment bell rang to dismiss class. I packed up my books and headed down towards the Teathre Arts room.

When we fot there Tiffany was on stage and she was telling us that because of the school's day of tomorrow we were going to find who our partners are today. She started by calling out the names of students and putting us into groups of two. She said that whoever was partnered up could leave to go and revise their parts and arrange their play. It looked to me like everyone got Romeo&Juliet to work on. I sat there waiting to hear my my name be called. Tiffany kept paring students up. I was confused when I was left there with Seline and another boy who was a year 2 student and them Tiffany paired them both up and they left. I was the only one left sitting there confused a about what was going. Then Tiffany called me up on stage and asked me if i've been working on my parts. I told her that i read through most of the book already but i didn't remember all the parts i had to play. She looked at me and smiled.

She sat down on a chair which was on the stage. She asked me to read aloud the lines that i remembered from the book. I didn't know what was going on so i stood there and said what i could remember, it wasn't much but i did my best. She stood up from her chair and came towards me and said that i needed to revise my lines better because the play was in two days. She turned to get her bag and thats when i asked her who was my partner going to be. She turned around smiling at me and she said it was going to be her. I froze when i heard those words come out of her mouth. She kept on looking at me while i stood there like an idiot. She then pinched my arm asking me if i was gonna stand here for the rest of the day or were we going to start to work on the play. I looked up at her, I couldn't really say anything i just nodded my head and we walked off the stage picking up my bag from where i was sitting and we left and headed to the cafeteria to get something to eat. We sat there in the cafe after we finished eating goimg over our lines. After a while the cafeteria started getting crowded and noisy, she asked if it would be alright to go up to my dorm to finish the rest of the work. I told her it was fine and i picked up both of our bags and we headed to my room.

We walked up to my room. Opening the door i completly forgot that it was in a mess in there, my clothes was on the floor and i had books all over. I heard a laugh come from behind me. I turned around and she was looking at me, i apologized for the state o my room. She walked in and told me that i should get started on cleaning if we were going to work on the play this evening since we only had two days. I tried to clean up everything quickly so that we could get to work. I stacked my books onto the table and kicked my clothes into the cupboard and closed the door. I turned around to see her laughing at me and she said "well atleast it's clean now" She stepped in and took out her copy of the book and we sat there for a while working on it.

After a while we stopped and started talking about other stuff. She started telling me how she grew up here in Seville, that how her parents owned a furniture store in town and that how Seline was her cousin and the vice principal of our school Mr. Jules was her dad's brother, her uncle. After telling me almost everything about herself she asked me where i was from and how come i ended up here. I started telling her that my parents died when i was twelve and my older brother and his wife took me in a looked after me up until now. I told her that the only reason i signed up for this school was because of the scholarship they were offering to go to the Camden School of Racing. I continued to tell her how i loved racing and it was the only thing i really focused on, thats why i fell back in some if my other subjects. She looked at and then asked why did i sign up for drama.

I looked towards her, i didn't want to lie to her and i knew there was no way of getting out of this, so i just told her the truth. I said that the real reason i signed up for drama was because i wanted to meet you and i liked you from the moment i saw you. I said to that her i never liked the subject but i went ahead and signed up anyways.

She looked at me and smiled, then looked at her watch and said it was late and she'd better get going. We packed up our books and she left around 9:00pm. When she left i went and took a shower and started to clean up my room.
