(Helena's POV)
It's been a few weeks ever since my encounter with Allen and Delilah but the latter's words about her brother still bother me until now.
I just can't get the possibility of Julian being alive out of my head. If he is alive, I'm really doomed. I know him. He won't just let this pass. He will surely seek revenge even if he was the one who committed the wrongdoing on the first place. My whole highschool life with him is a proof.
"Hey Missy! Fancy a ride with us?" I saw five college guys riding on a flashy moss green Volkswagen.
I ignored them and continued walking. My apartment is only a few blocks away. I really hate running out of pancake mix. The only food that I would eat in the morning. I don't really eat breakfast but I couldn't resist the taste of pancake with blueberry syrup. Yum!
I bet Luke took interest on my pancake mix again. For some reason, he found a way to turn the pancake into blue and had been pigging on them ever since.
"We can give you a ride you won't ever forget!" Another guy shouted and his friends laughed like maniacs.
I walked faster.
Damn you, Lucas! You are the reason why I have to go into a convenience store at four a.m. I'll wring your neck the moment I see you and I wouldn't even care if your girlfriend goes ballistic.
"C'mon, honey. We just want to be friends with you. Right, guys?" The one on the passenger's seat grinned wickedly at me. Under the moonlight, his pupils seem dilated and his gaze is out of focus.
Shit! They're high on drugs! I started to run.
I heard them whistling and cat calling at me as they chased after me. I started to panic and pray for my life as I ran towards my apartment.
"Here we come, little rabbit!"
Shit! I started gasping for breath as I run down the deserted street.
I thought that I saw a movement near me and the next thing that I knew, a pair of muscled arms is already dragging me towards a dark alley.
I started to scream for help but he put a hand over my mouth to keep me from calling out for help.
"Shit. Helena! Do you really have a death wish." He whispered on my ear. The hair at the back of my neck rose. This voice seems familiar to me.
The car suddenly passed near our hiding place and I heard the guys still calling out for me.
I turned around and saw Axcell Walker glaring at me. I sighed. I'm not sure if I should be relieved or what.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Wow! I just saved your life and you didn't even bother saying thank you. Well, welcome Helena." He mocked a bow.
My face suddenly felt hot with embarrassment.
"Uhm... I'm sorry. But I'm just wondering why are you here."
"I live here, of course. I'm smoking my lungs out on my garage when I heard some catcalls. Figured out I can help whoever they are planning to victimize." He's saying the truth. He smells of cigarette and mint. "And you should actually be the one who's forbidden to go out alone at this time. What are you thinking of?"
"I bought some pancakes." I muttered under my breath.
"You risked your life just for pancakes?!" His voice raised.
"Why do you care?" I spat angrily.
He shrugged. "I'm taking you home. It's a good thing that you are not wearing anything sexy or they would have gone wilder." He eyed my oversized tee and pajama bottoms.
He suddenly took the plastic bag from me, grabbed my hand and started walking down the street. I blushed at the contact but I kept quiet.
He only let go of my hand when e reached my apartment. He gave me back the plastic bag that contains my beloved pancake mix.
"T-Thanks." I looked at him.
"That's nothing. I would gladly do everything for you." He grinned from ear to ear and I can't help but think of how gorgeous he is. "I should get going, I still have classes at seven. See you later, my beautiful Helena." And he walked away.
Maybe he's not that bad after all. I grinned thoughtfully.
I sighed. I am about to open the door when it suddenly burst open, revealing Michael's worried face. He's already dressed for school even though it's barely 5 a.m.
"Uh... Good morning?"
"I heard you two. You don't usually thank your suitors, Lena. You run away from them." He sighed. "What happened? I'm worried." He touched my arm.
I almost jumped at the contact. This guy isn't usually touchy. What the hell has gotten into him?
"I just had some problem while walking home and he happened to be out so he helped me." No need to elaborate. I know Michael will go crazy and probably won't stop hunting those guys down.
"I'll see you later..." He hugged me tightly before he started walking towards his car.
Seriously, he's being extra touchy nowadays.
(Axcell's POV)
"And here is your pay for being extra cooperative." I gave the driver and leader of the gang their promised pay for their little act earlier.
"50 grand. You never fail us, Axcell my boy. Nice doing business with you, dude." He pat my back.
I shrugged and started walking back to my house.
I grinned inwardly. I should've thought of that strategy months ago. Now, Helena thinks of me as her knight in shining armour.
I'm so clever, right?
A/N: Eew. Did I just write this? Seriously, this chapter is so corny. Lol.
Sooo... Michael is starting to be so clingy and Axcell is really a jerk. Violent reactions, anyone? 🙈🙊🙉
Sadly, I've been very sick these past few days. We had an academic contest last Tuesday and I was assisting at the stage when I collapsed (In front of my whole college) because of hyperacidity. (Blame it to too much coffee and coke) Now I'm forbidden from even touching a cup of coffee. 😭😭
And now, I have a sore throat!! 😷 Can't I have a peaceful life?! 😵😨
xoxo
CherishP.S. I love bands 😏😎
