Alexander was very guilty and even though he was heartless, he still managed to have feelings towards the fiesty brunette. April held back threatening tears not wanting to ruin Crystal's effort into making a face she thought was horrible into pure perfection. She tried breathing properly but her attempts were futile. She didn't know how he even had such an effect on her neither did she understand why she cared so much, she was just being dramatic. So telling herself that she shouldn't be affected, she warily stepped out of the warmth that curled within her chamber and examined Alexander's outfit picked for this auspicious occasion.

A breath hitched in her throat as she skimmed him up and down, him mirroring her actions and trying his best to hide his reaction. For once, he was proud to have such a beautiful mate and gave a genuine smile but soon realised that she was diminishing his cruel character, his bad persona and intimidating aura, he hid the only sign of happiness and moved his elbow to her and she hesitantly put her arm through and they uncomfortably walked to the ballroom.

Both pretending like they're unaffected...

April wanted to weep in a corner and Alexander felt like a knife was piercing through his cold heart. He didn't know what she was doing to him or what she was capable of doing to him, he was just determined to keep his heartless chest and his frown. With every step taken, their urges to talk about the night before became stronger. Alexander wanted to explain himself for the first time after his parents died and April wanted answers even though she felt like it was non of her business.

Alexander abruptly stopped at a large pair of wooden doors with "Luna" engraved on it, perfectly carved as it was lightly shadowed and a few specks of gold glistened in the dim lighting as it was forbidden to draw open any curtain, maintaining the darkness.

Basically...Alexander wanted the palace to reflect his dark soul and make everyone else miserable. Knocking three times, he pushed open the door and walked in but April's feet stayed glued to the ground. Huffing, Alexander tugged her arm and dragged her in. Sofia was sat at the dressing table.

This was breaking April's heart more than it already was broken and she sniffles back the waterfall brimming on the edges of her eyes. Both women had put on fake smiles that screamed "bitch!". Sofia hungrily walked to Alexander and traced her long index up and down his muscular chest, this made April see red. Stiffening, Alexander removed Sofia's hand from his chest and gently pushed it away while giving her a quick glare. Sofia had feelings for Alexander and was jealous of April , she hated his mate and planned on getting rid of her.

Sofia's POV

Their arms were perfectly fitted and their height was perfect. No wonder she was his mate. I hate April, I'm going to kill her, feed her to the rogues and make sure she pays for stealing my lover. Why did she have to come here, I just don't get it. Thinking she wasn't going to come to tonight's event, I wore a right fitting mermaid, strapless red dress with my cleavage showing. She's ruining everything!

I was supposed to be in his arms, I was supposed to be the cause of his change, I was supposed to be his mate. Me!Me!Me!

Then why her?

She didn't deserve this life or title as Luna neither was she educated as good as me. This girl put me at the brink of tears but there is and will be no way in hell that I'll look vulnerable in front of her.

This was also the first time Alexander wasn't turned on by me and rather pushed me away.

Agh. She's ruining everything!!!

Dear April, you will not live for another night...and I'll make sure of that tonight. After informing me, Alexander and April were out the door and I was evilly thinking about my foolproof plan.

Back to no one's POV

As the new Luna walked down the stairs and into the balltoom , all eyes burned into her. Some looked at her with lust, others with jealousy, and very few looked at her and genuinely wished her well. Alexander glared at all the men and took pride as to find that his woman was the most beautiful. April uncomfortably hooked her gaze on the ground and shyly smiled. The clutter, talking and smoking had vanished as everyone stood in awe. After five minutes, everyone pretended to be engrossed in a conversation but still stole glances at the two.

"Please can I go back?" April forced out. Not fitting in with them, she fiddled with her dress and bit her lip as men's eyes went dark with uncontrollable lust but they wouldn't dare cut in with the Alpha King's Luna. "No" he said in a tone that clearly said, 'no matter how many times you ask, I won't change my mind'. This greatly irritated April and she suddenly felt claustrophobic. "But I'm feeling suffocated here, it may be one big ball room but it feels ever so small, do excuse me." She excused and tried pulling her hand out from his but he pulled her back and smirked. "Not so fast."

April huffed, getting more sweatier than ever afraid she was going to drown in it. "I'll come with you." He finally gave in as he lead her to two doors. Swinging them open, he revealed a huge piece of land that had beautiful withering flowers of white and dark maroonish purple. Looking at the garden in disapproval, she thought out loud, "Does everything have to represent your feelings?" This question had taken him by surprise because uptil today, nobody dared to ever ask him about this.

"Yes." He gave a nod and warily let go off her. Alexander lead her to a small stone bench in front of a small pond and they both seated themselves on it, breathing in the fresh air and listening to the birds, frogs and glistening water move. After having enough of the quiet moment, April decided to break the unnerving silence of speech. "So..." She said softly wanting him to hear but not wanting him to hear at the same time. In response, Alexander sat up straight and cleared his throat.

"What do you even do all day?" She gathered up enough courage to say but she took her steps warily yet carefully not wanting to trigger Alexander's irritation or anger. "Um." He dragged. These questions were never asked as everyone stood a mile behind their limits with him. So not knowing what answer to give he resounded and replied,"Work?"

When this came out a question, April forgot his persona and raised her eyebrow at him while a smirk set itself playfully on her soft lips that Alexander wanted to kiss so badly but he could resist right now. Right now. "Oh really?" She asked dragging a bit as he smiled genuinely, happy because it was so different with her, she herself was so different to him...so open and playful that he'd melt but when she wasn't around his heart slowly rebuild the thick ice but it now seemed like the ice kept becoming thinner.

They both chuckled lightly as something buzzed in April's mind. "Can I ask you a question?" She asked as Alexander nodded clearly enjoying her company. "Why does Princess Sofia have Luna written on her door?" She asked but immediately regretted her question when the words slid out of her mouth like beads falling from a string. "S-s-sorry." She stuttered, shifting her gaze back to the pond.

"It's uh-al-alright." He sruttered too. He was very surprised with his actions lately. The fact that this girl was always on his mind, her smile, her tears, her laughter, her chuckles, her eyebrow as weird and creepy it may sound; and he only saw and heard all these once. "No...n-no, it's not. Sorry for everything, I-I should've known. Agh, I'm such an idiot, forgive me. I'm not worthy of being your mate." She came back to her senses as the night before replayed itself but this time she felt as if it really was her business. And since she didn't want Alexander to see her breakdown, she stood up and ran. Even though he could smell her from a mile, he couldn't now because she used a little too much perfume. When this small conversation (if you could call it that) went on, he felt himself again, the old Alexander: Alex. But as soon as she ran, he became hardcore, dark and gloomy again.

Searching around the hedges and bushes, he couldn't find her. That night April spent her sleep behind a huge hedge while tears still worked their way down her face and her puffy eyes shut themselves and she got lost in the darkness...
