Chapter Five
The Start of War
Emily's P.O.V
I looked back at my Aunt in horror at what she just said. A war? Over me? How is this even possible? I didn't want any of this, ever.
"Why don't we go eat some late lunch, you need to eat. You haven't eaten all day Emily." My Aunt scolds me as she begins making her way to the door. Eat? How could I eat in a time like this?
"She is right, we can discuss in the private kitchen on the Alpha wing of the house. No one will be able to hear us." Sandy said as she got up and took Alpha Barnes' hand and headed for the office door.
"Wait, we have a lot to discuss!" I start to say, as I look around dumbfounded that everyone just decided it's time to eat.
"Come on honey, their right, we can talk there and you can get some food. You look like you need it. Losing weight?" Hix said as he stood up and offered me his hand. I took it and stood up, striating my top.
"You know how hard I train Hix, I could probably kick your ass," I say smirking at him as I saunter out the door to follow the others.
"Anytime, any day baby." Hix laughed as he followed me down the halls. They were empty, no children, no one socializing. But on the way to the Alpha's wing we pass the backside of the house, which is, all glass looking out into the training fields. Everyone was out their fighting, working, running, doing something training wise. Literally it looked like the whole pack was out there. Well Uncle Scott did tell me that The Blood Moon Pack, which is Alpha Barnes' pack, was probably strong enough to fight against The White Lake Pack with Alpha Ronan. Apparently they choose to stay in lower ranks and focus on strong pack life. I can't blame them. Power was attractive, but also deadly.
"Right through here." Hix said as he lead me through a long hall way and separate double door entrance into would could be its own stand-alone house. It was a huge open floor plan kitchen-living room- dining room set up. With stairs that lead to what I assumed a couple bedrooms. It looked like the Master Suite was on this floor along with another office for Alpha Barnes. I guess it's good that the Alpha and Luna have a sanctuary away from the pack house, privacy is usually lacking in the werewolf community.
"Here I will make us all some sandwiches, turkey or chicken?" Sandy said as she went around taking everyone's order. Being the motherly Luna that she does so well. I decided on a chicken salad sandwich as I helped Sandy in the kitchen prepare out little meal. Everyone's took his or her places at the dining room table, Alpha Barnes in some deep discussion with Hix. Ill assumes it has something to do with the upcoming issue about a war. Blood Moon was a strong pack and I am sure both Alpha Ronan and Alpha Keenan will be looking for an alliance with him, or looking to fight him, knowing where I am taking sanctuary at the moment. But at the same time I don't think they want to fight Alpha Barnes, more so make a fair trade, of me.
"Okay guys, their ready!" Sandy says and her and I walk the plate of sandwiches and chips over to the table to serve everyone, along with a pitcher of lemonade.
"Okay let's get down to business." I say as I sit down picking at my sandwich, hungry, but afraid if I eat I will throw it right back up because of my nerves.
Hix gives me a knowing look, tilting his head toward my plate, telling me to eat. I roll my eyes at him as I pick up one half of the sandwich and start to eat it. I look over to my Aunt, she sits up straight as in preparation to tell me the official news I have been dreading to here.
"Have you ever heard of a second chance mate?" My aunt asks as she sits across from me at the kitchen table. The question catching me off guard and causes something I never felt before settle within me. As I shake my head no, she sighs and continues, she seems reluctant to tell me, but continues on.
