"My God don't you ever shut up!"He yelled as he threw the television remote "Me?! Have you heard you?!!" She spat, stamping her feet like a child. They continued scream at each other, not noticing the girl watching in the background. Alice let the tears roll down her face as she watched her parents fight. It was always like this. Every night...

Objects flew around the room. Some thrown by him others by her. Alice sobbed at the top of her lungs, "Stop it stop it!!" But only received a book thrown her way, which luckily she dodged. Not being able to stand it any longer, Alice ran out the front door.

The old wood porch creaked uneasily as she leaped across it to the pavement. She strained to see through her teary eyes as she unchained her cobalt bike. Finally managing to get it free of its restraints, Alice peddled as fast a 14 year old girl could peddle.

Alice whipped her head side to side, trying to find her way through the inky black night. The faster she peddled only reminded her that she chose to leave in a tank top and shorts on a November night. Really smart.
She skidded to a halt. There is was. The only place that ever held a happy moment of her life. The old playground from when she was little.

Letting her bike fall onto the cement, Alice raced to the swing set. Carefully, she eased herself into the yellow swing, the one she always used to sit in. She even remembered the first time she had been there. It was her mother's birthday, she was turning 29. Alice was only five at the time, barely old enough to comprehend much. After the party with cake and presents, they surprised Alice with a trip to the playground. Her father pushed her gently on the swing. Laughing, she leaned her head back and looked up at the sky. It was the bluest you could ever imagine that day.

Wiping her tears away, Alice hugged herself. Shivering wasn't very much fun. All of sudden, smooth fabric draped across her shoulder. Turning her head, Alice met eyes with Daniel, her cousin who lived a few blocks away. She smiled weakly and took the gray hoodie and slipped it over her head, sighing contently at the new warmth. He sat in the swing and looked up at the millions of shining stars, "Just look up. It helps ya know." He simply said. Alice did as he said. The stars were like a light show never ending. It was the most beautiful thing imaginable.

Alice looked at him and smiled, "Did you follow me again? Or were you already here?" "I followed you....again." He chuckled. Alice laughed, wrapping her arms around him in an embrace. He hugged her back, making the over sized hoodie bunch up in places. He ruffled her hair but let his smile fade, "They fighting again?" Sighing, Alice nodded. Daniel stood, bring Alice up with him, "Bring them here. See all this stars up there? Now do u see that cluster of three over there," he pointed to the sky,"That one right there! That's aunt Coralie, Uncle Seth, and you. The little blue one is you. The big yellow ones are them. Show them that Alice. Tell them that if those stars collide, meaning if they keep fighting, everything is gonna explode."

Alice could just picture those two stars colliding, causing chaos millions of light years away. Alice looked at him and smiled. He smiled back and out his arm around her, "Now come on! Let's get them down here. I'll drive ya back." Alice let out a shout of excitement and ran to get her bike. Maybe tonight it would be different. Maybe the stars help more, hold more secrets, then we realize. Don't you think?
