"Erza! Look!", a pinkette girl in a long flowing cape hollered. Her flowing pink hair danced in the wind like strands of gold against the baby blue sky. The girl dashed up to the re-equip mage, who was, well, obviously eating her favorite strawberry cake on a small table and chair outside under a sakura tree. The lovely weather had urged the re- equip mage to eat outside. She wasn't even wearing any armor, instead she wore a sleeveless white blouse and a ruffled green skirt with black flats. It was peaceful; serenity had been bestowed upon the land of Fiore. No one was indoors, after all, who would waste a beautiful day like this?
"This better be important, Meredy. I'm eating my cake." Erza sighed, lifting up her fork to take a large bite of the pastry. Meredy lifted up her hand, revealing a beautiful diamond ring. It glistened in the sun, and pink jewels mixed with blue gems wrapped around the tiny diamond. The band was a simple silver circle, with the words 'forever' engraved on the inside.
"He proposed!" She squealed, her eyes sparkling with joyfulness.Clang
The air stood still and the winds stopped. The birds quit chirping and you could feel a new emotion come in- an indescribable feeling, like the calm before a storm.
Erza dropped her fork on the table. /She can't possibly mean.../ A drop of sweat rolled down Erza's slender neck and she began to shake. Tension filled the warm summer air and Meredy looked at her, concerned."W-Who did?" Erza stuttered, her eyes wide as she stared at Meredy's face. Longing, a strange blank look that looked as if it would break any second entered her brown eyes as she searched the bride-to-be's face. /Anyone but him.../ A vivid image of a blue haired man flashed through her head.
"Jellal, who else?" Meredy answered questioningly. That single word, the word that she would have craved to be ANYTHING, everything else, except that word. Erza's lips began to wobble and eyes threatened to fall from her beautiful brown eyes. /No... NO!!/
'Why Jellal?' The redhead wailed in her head. Pain and agony ripped through her heart as she gasped for air. Breathe! It felt like it was exploding, melting, and being stabbed at the same time. As if she was going through the gates of hell and Satan was tormenting her. Erza let out a small gasp and coughed, her chest aching. A wound in her mind, soul, and heart bled every memory she had shared with him. She tried to contain it and eventually the pain died down to a throb, each painful second reminding her of the one she loved who had been taken away from her in a single moment.
"Erza?" A voice shook her back into reality. "Are you ok?" Erza quickly wiped her eyes and plastered on her best fake smile. A band aid for a bullet hole.
"Yup! I'm really h-happy for you and Jellal!" Erza cheerfully said. I'm so evil, she thought, I should be happy. I guess I'm just selfish. "Best wishes!"
"Thanks! Well, I'd best be on my way! I have to make wedding preparations! Bye Erza!" The happy bride-to-be skipped off into the town, leaving a heartbroken girl alone. A solitary red rose in a bed of thorns, struggling to stay alive while the thorns ripped the petals apart.
"Jellal..." Erza whispered as tears started to fall like waterfalls. "So this is what heartbreak feels like..."
