Care of Magical Creatures

"Right - who wants ter go first?" said Hagrid in his booming voice. "No one?" pleaded Hagrid.

"I'll do it," said Harry,

Hagrid grinned and roared "Good man, Harry! Right then - let's see how yeh get on with Buckbeak." He took the collar off of Buckbeak and everyone held their breath. "Easy, now, Harry. Yeh've got eye contact, now try not ter blink...Hippogriffs don' trust yeh if yeh blink too much..."

Harry maintained eye contact, his eyes watering. It was almost like a staring contest. "Tha's it, tha's it Harry...now, bow..."

Hesitantly, Harry bowed. Buckbeak made a noise but Harry stood his ground. Eventually the hippogriff bowed back to Harry.

Ecstatic, Hagrid clapped loudly with the rest of the class and said "Well done, Harry! Right - yeh can touch him! Pat his beak, go on!"

Harry patted the hippogriff's beak several times, which Buckbeak seemed to enjoy.

"Righ' then, Harry, I reckon he might' let yeh ride him! Yeh climb up there, jus' behind the wing joint. An' mind hey don' pull any of his feathers out, he won' like that..." Hagrid hoisted Harry up onto Buckbeak, who took off the moment he was secure.

Harry yelled out in fear, but eventually realized it was kind of fun. He loved the feeling of being up in the air, it was like being on a broomstick but not having to do any work. Eventually, though, time was up and he had to return to the ground.

Everyone congratulated Harry on his success.

By the end of class, everyone had gained the respect of a Hippogriff. The trio praised Hagrid on such a good first class, and were then on their way.

Sirius Black

Sirius was in his animagus form waiting for Harry. He'd been doing this for the past week, hoping he would walk by so that he could explain to Harry just what happened on that night in Godric's Hollow. He also needed Harry's friend Ron, to get to Peter Pettigrew who was pretending to be Ron's pet rat. Eventually though, it was past nightfall and there was no sign of Harry or his friends. They didn't really have a reason to be so far out in the grounds, anyways.

Sirius sighed and ran to the Whomping Willow. He made it back to the Shrieking Shack safely.

In the morning, he decided that going into Hogsmeade for a bit to eat would be his goal for the morning. He shifted back into his form and ran down to Hogsmeade, eating scraps off the streets. Sirius then returned to the Forbidden Forest. He changed back into a human and took a walk. After being in Azkaban for so long, he found it necessary to move as much as he could because he hadn't exercised in twelve years.

Soon enough though, the dementors found him. He shouldn't have switched out in broad daylight. Sirius attempted to change forms, but the dementors were too quick. They swept in fast and he soon fell unconcious. By the end of the day, Sirius Black had been kissed by a dementor and the entire wizarding population rejoiced, not knowing they had killed an innocent man.

At Dinner

"I'm still mad at you, you know that? Scabbers has been gone for a while now. He's most likely dead," said Ron.

Hermione rolled her eyes but didn't say a word.

Harry was just about to start eating when he heard "Silence!" Dumbledore's voice could make an entire room quiet in mere seconds.

"I have an announcement. Sirius Black has been given the Dementor's Kiss, and the dementors will be leaving Hogwarts by morning," said Dumbledore.

At this news, Harry's mouth formed a huge smile. "Did you hear that guys? Sirius Black finally got what he deserved. He doesn't just get away with killing my parents. He gets a fate worse than death."
