So, I'm a foolish child. I really don't care—I'm in love. But talk about a complicated relationship. Romeo and Juliet got nothing on me. I suppose you're interested in my story? Well, I guess we'll start with my name and where I'm really from then.

My name's Lydia, and I'm originally from New York—The Bronx to be exact. I loved it there! I had all my friends, and I just loved the city. Yeah, that's right—My mother's half Italian and Irish. My father, he's German and something else. I don't know, but that's not the point. The point is—I left my home for some outback hick-town in bum-the-fudge—Texas. I've been aching to get back since.

"Lydia!" shouted a voice from downstairs.

Checking my alarm clock, I popped up.

Tabitha!

"Damn! That girl is always on time," I whispered under my breath, making my way to the stairwell.

"Yes, ma'am," said Tabitha, smiling at my mother.

What a kiss up.

As our glances met, I reciprocated with a smile of my own—A fake one at that.

Don't get me wrong; I love Tabitha, but since she moved away, she's been acting like a real snob. I'm surprised she even made time for our traditional weekend slumber party. When I first moved down two years ago, Tabitha used to live across the street from me. I guess you can say we hit it off. She always had her little quirks about her, though. Like, when we played dress up, she insisted on always being the most famous actress. At first, this used to drive me nuts. But I got used to it—I got used to her always getting her way.

"Hey, Lydia—I got something to show you!" said Tabitha, grabbing my arm and escorting me upstairs to my bedroom.

"You girls don't get carried away—It'll be dinner soon!" yelped Elizabeth, my mother.

The only confirmation was the pitter patter of tiny footsteps, running up the stairs.

"—Shut the door!" snapped Tabitha, digging into her bag.

"Ooooh—What's that?" I said inquisitively snaking closer to Tabitha to get a better view.

Tabitha's hair smelled of sweet honey, and her complexion flawless. Although we were both blondes, there was an absolute difference between Tabitha and I. I wasn't ugly—Just ordinary I suppose. But Tabitha had boobs! I blame it on good genetics because I was flat chested. I guess I didn't inherit enough of that Italian side. Then, I'd have a curvaceous hourglass figure. My mother was a tiny little thing, so I guess that would be me in a decade or so.

As for Tabitha, she was the epitome of a blonde bombshell. She had the total package. Not like my blonde, her locks full and vibrant. Mine—Just ordinary; it was barely even blonde, more like a bright brown or dirty—dirty blonde. Yeah, the kind of dirt found at the bottom of the lake. That's me in a nutshell, and that's how I felt around Tabitha. Part of me was just happy she was my friend. Otherwise, I'd have nothing.

Being that we would both be starting Madison High School after the summer break, I'd rather have Tabitha than being alone. The last thing I'd ever want would be an outcast at Madison High.

I digress.

As I got closer to Tabitha's right, I could catch a glimpse in her bag.

"What a dork!" snapped Tabitha, creating space as she pulled out a board of some type. "My dad brought this back from his business trip—it's an authentic Ouija Board!"

"What? A OoI—JA—"

"—No, silly, Owee—jee Board," interrupted Tabitha as her expression lit up before adding, "We can conjure up spirits!"
