~~~~~~~~~So sorry, y'all! I am an unmotivated little piece of work who doesn't deserve people following me! I really AM sorry! And I will FOR REAL this time, promise to try and update regularly now! I have the idea of what's gonna happen a little better in my mind. Well, now, without further, ado~~~~~~~~
Seth POV
I woke up to the sound of voices softly intermingling throughout small caches of silence. They would start up, stutter a bit, then recede. The only constant sound was a weird, fluttery sound. It sounded like… like paper, the pages of a book being turned really quickly. Almost like a little kid glancing through the pages of a big-kid book just to see if there were any pictures.
I sighed a little bit, still really tired. I felt like I’d been hit by a car, run over, had the vehicle back up over my body, and then drive over me again. I felt like I needed to sleep for another 48 hours. I dug my face deeper into the pillows—err, cushions? What?
This didn’t feel like my bed…
I opened my eyes to slits and stretched a tiny bit. The first thing I saw was Clari. She sat on the very edge of the couch I was on, with me wrapped around her. My arm was actually in her lap, holding her against me. She rested a large book on top of my arm, balancing it as she speed read the pages of the book.
Well, that explained that.
I frowned for a second. Something was wrong here. We weren’t at my house. We weren’t on my couch. I felt like something important happened, but I couldn’t quite remember what. It was right on the tip of my tongue and I just couldn’t get the thought of it straight. But I think… I think it was something bad. Something bad involving… Clari. Clari…
All of a sudden, I heard the word “Volturi” through the lull in the conversation; instant wide awake panic.
The conversation halted and everyone in the room stared at me. Carlisle, Esmee, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, Emmett, Bella, Renesmee, and… Edward. I looked at him and my breathing hitched in my throat. My hands trembled as my adrenaline rose again.
Oh god no, not again, I moaned in my mind.
“Seth! Seth!” chirped a small voice, breaking my fixation on Edward. I glanced down and saw Clari smiling a wide, cheeky grin at me. She let go of the book with one hand and placed it on my chest, right over my heart. “Seth all better now?” she giggled as she asked in a slight accent.
I gaped at her.
She saw my jaw drop and she laughed as loud as her little body would let her. She went straight faced and then imitated me, making her jaw click as she dropped it. She laughed again, and I laughed slightly. She smiled again and said, “Clari learn English. Clari speak Seth in English!” She furrowed her brows suddenly, looking back down at her book. “Need learn more, speak better. Need to speak—no, talk—to Seth in English!” She smiled proudly back up at me.
I blinked in surprise. I almost smiled at her, too, she distracted me that much. But I had to look back up at the others, make sure she was safe. I looked up and saw… worried faces staring back at me. I blinked again.
