Seth POV

Leah parked my mom’s dirty old beater next to all the Cullens’ beautiful, sleek, and faster-than-anything-but-us cars. Honestly, I have to admit I sigh over them almost every single time I see them. I mean, dang. Whadoya need to do to get things like those? Oh, yeah.

Be a doctor for a couple hundred years.

I opened the car door and got out with Clari still in my arms. As soon as I stood up straight, Clari crawled over into the hollow of my shoulder so she could lay her head down there. She cuddled up close and slipped her thumb into her mouth again and I couldn’t help but smile at her. She managed to smile around the digit in her mouth.

Leah had already started climbing up the steps to the front porch so I quickly joined her. I heard the front door open when I got half way up and knew that Edward came to check us out.

“Alice knew you were coming but she didn’t expect the huge hole in her vision to come rolling up the driveway in a sedan for once,” Edward said with a slight laugh in his voice.

Explanation: Alice can see the future. However, whenever us wolves get involved with anything, she can’t see squat. Only the future with these weird blank spots in the future. Funnily enough, she also can’t see half-vampires, like her kinda niece, Nessie, or even my Clari. So we’re gonna be a complete surprise today.

I finally got to the top of the stairway and I heard a sharp intake of breath. I smiled because I knew that Edward saw Clari. I almost laughed when I saw him. He was gaping just a little bit. Almost a little too surprised, actually, to the point of being comical. But then again, it’s not every day you find yet another half-vampire child.

I gave Edward a small nod. “Hey, Edward. Look what the dogs carted in.”

He gave a bemused smile. “Hello, there, little one. What is your name?”

Clari gave a little giggle and rubbed her head into the crease of my neck. I chuckled at her shyness. “Her name’s Clarianna—Clari. I found her walking around in the town.”

Edward looked up sharply. “You imprinted.” Nothing ever gets passed Edward.

I grinned sheepishly. “Yup.”

“So, who all’s in?” asked Leah the Wonder. Edward practically did a double take. Well, I bet her mind’s all mixed up with the whole… umm… little-brother-imprinted-with-a-half-vampire-maybe-a-tenth-his-age-who-also-does-not-speak-english thing. Yeah. Oops.

Edward gave another bemused, kinda confused grin and said, “Well, almost everyone’s inside, actually. Like I said, Alice knew something was coming. And ‘something’ coming in a car was slightly unusual, so we all decided to stick around and see… ahem… ‘what the dogs carted in.’”

We both laughed at that. Leah rolled her eyes. At least her humor’s kind of improved. Slightly. Kinda. Maybe.

We all walked into the huge, spacious house behind Edward. I’d always considered the house almost a waste since no one but Nessie needed to sleep in this family, but now the house is a gathering place of vampires, and surprisingly enough, wolves alike. Ever since Jake imprinted with Nessie, the house has been ruled “okay” to play in for all the wolves. Not that anyone in the pack would ever even think of the word play, let alone utter it, when it came to the Cullens’ house. Not that I’d ever cared.

We walked into the living room and saw everybody. Seriously. Almost everyone was packed into that room, or in the rooms outlining it. Emmett was on the couch, intensely watching another football game with Jasper next to him. Jasper looked kinda interested, but was mainly watching Alice, who was in the corner chair with her eyes closed. He almost always had an eye on Alice. She almost always tended to… get into things.
