she replied to the text,
[ be there in ten ]
she quickly changed into something more for going out than sleeping, waiting a couple more minutes to make sure he didn't come back, forgetting something he needed.
after leaving the hotel room, she got into his car and they drove off.
there wasn't a plan to go to a dark and lonely park, but that is where they ended up.
"slides?" he asked.
"no, monkey bars." they raced to the top and sat on the painted bars of metal.
his smile went away, and it reminded her of him again. "she still won't talk to me."
"have you told her?"
"she won't let me."
"what about her friend? has she talked to her?"
"no, i'm so tired of waiting for her to realize that i wasn't doing anything wrong. she should trust me."
she couldn't help but think of him again.
she should have trusted him with going out the other day, that he couldn't possibly do anything to ruin their relationship.
"chanel, did you hear me?" tommy said, "what are you thinking about?"
"sorry, it's my boyfriend."
"you're in a relationship? and you're going out alone at night? i would never let lina out like this."
"he doesn't control me, and he went out too."
"i don't even know if i'm in a relationship anymore. what do i do chanel?"
she was somewhat glad that he didn't turn the conversation into her relationship with him.
"get her chick fil a, if i was her, i'd want that food." chanel smiled, thinking her response was good enough.
"no, she's a pescatarian."
"okay, well i don't know what that is."
"she doesn't eat meat, just fish."
"well get her chocolates and some flowers?" she tried the cliche way.
"alright let's go."
chanel was hanging from her legs on the monkey bars, surprised about what tommy just said.
"what, where?" she got up and followed him as they walked to his car.
"to get lina back."
