I stood on the stage, nervously glancing down at my feet. I loved writing poetry. The thought of writing out my inmost thoughts and making something beautiful out of them... it was relieving. But reciting it in front of people was a different story. I stumbled over my words and nervously shook my hands, making the paper shake.

Today was different. I was dressed a little differently, my skull mask painted on my face. Tori painted it on for me, mostly so she could practice her make up skills. I liked it enough to keep it. But, behind the skull I felt confident. And the words on this paper truly gave me hope for the future.

"Hope. The four letter word that the world has forgotten.
A world turned upside down by fear, hate and all other things rotten.

We feel lost in an unfamiliar world filled with unfamiliar faces.
Our hearts feel void of happiness, loneliness filling in spaces.

We appear to be strong, in control and fearless,
yet our days are never bright and our nights never tearless.

But fear not my friends, for not all hope is gone.
I'm here to tell you, I've seen it.
I've felt it - after darkness comes the dawn.

I found my hope in the strangest of ways;
in the most hopeless of places;
from the most hopeless of faces.

He appeared before me;
a beacon of light in the dark;
with see through intentions and voice like a lark.

A prideful face worshiped by the graceless.
His kind gentle heart, invisible to the faceless.

Following him through bodies made of fear and anxiety,
he led me up winding stairs, where hope was found waiting for me.

In a room alone, free from those with whom he juxtaposed,
he shared with me his kryptonite; the truth behind his hope disclosed.

A single moment frozen in time, he sought to make my world golden.
Back down the stairs, among the masses, the spell was finally broken.

The hope I'd been seeking these recent years,
came to me through chocolate eyes and hidden tears.

Those chocolate eyes house his soul but from all he's hidden the key.
Locked away for none to enter. No, not even me.

He's left me now, gone from my sight.
With him went all that made my world new and bright.

I'll hold him forever in my heart, for this is the truth I know.
I'll find him again and when I do, I'll hold on and never let go."
