The Ice Witch

Hey everybody! Tell me your comments regarding how I started my story and if you like this kind of plot. I haven't seen these kinds of storylines, so I decided to write about it. This first chapter is basically explanations and stuff. This isn't everything, but more is going to be added as the story progresses. Next few chapters is when the serious business comes into play. :) Vote and comment, thanks!

CHAPTER ONE  

From the age of four years old, I was granted a Power. Nobody knows how one gains a Power; they just do. However, it is said that Power users were first found in the early year of 2001. One thing that everyone knows though, is that there are no duplicates of the same Power. Like the many things people do not know regarding this new-found phenomenon, no one knows why there are no duplicates, but a person cannot have the same Power as another person in the world. I guess that’s just how nature works. These Powers range and vary between different users. They have been separated in their own distinct categories from the most common types to the rarest: the Enhancements, the Shape Shifters, and the Elementals.

Enhancement Users have a Power which amplifies their normal human abilities or they gain a completely separate ability. These people could have super strength, summon creatures, or could even be enhanced in sword fighting. These types of users are the most common out of the three categories of Power.

The second most common of the Powers are the Shape Shifters. These users have the ability to transform into different beings. This can range from transforming to an animal, a mythical creature, or even an inanimate object.

The rarest of the Powers are the Elementals. Although one’s strength is not dependant on what Power category you are in, it is presumed that the Elementals have the most potential in their ability and strength. The most well-known Elemental is Thor of the Seven Divine Powers of Earth, who has the ability to manipulate lightning. He is the leader of the Seven Divine Powers and is said to be the strongest of all seven. You can see that most Power users use names that were already used in comics. Eh, that’s just how it is.

For those who don’t know, the Seven Divine Powers is said to be the almighty strengths of our world, and there is no one stronger than them. This league is pretty much the equivalent to the Humans’ United Nations. They are the watchdogs of the world and makes sure no one abuses their Power and causes catastrophe amongst humans and between fellow Power users.

However, in today’s society, countries have started using Power users for war and are conscripting Power users for their purposes. Thus, they have started creating schools for the ‘gifted’ called Power Institutions to train and enhance their powers.

My name’s Emma Barr and I have the ability to create and manipulate ice. Yes, I’m an Elemental. I guess it’s true when they say that Elementals have the most potential in their ability because I was bestowed with this power at the age of four. Now, why is this fact worth mentioning? Well, that’s because the normal Power user gains their Power at strictly fourteen years old. Once you pass the age of fourteen, you know that you are safe from gaining a power.

You can say that I’m a really strong girl. Well, at least I think I am. I have never seen another Power user in my life, except on the News channel whenever something happens regarding Power users. So, really, I shouldn’t be saying how strong I am, when really, I have no one to compare my Power to. I would be able to measure my Power if I went to school in a Power Institution, but I can’t.

I have been in hiding ever since I gained my Powers. Nobody knows about my ability to manipulate ice except my family, which consists of my mother, father, and older brother. This means that I go to a normal high school, and am currently in grade twelve, turning 18 years old next year on June 14, 2012. I am not an amateur who can kill fellow classmates by mistake, but instead, I can control my ice powers very well. That’s why I haven’t been discovered yet and sent to a Power Institution.

But everything changed when the most unlucky thing happened to me during school. That’s when the adventure of my life started to take its course and I started to go by the name of the Ice Witch.
