++Evangeline POV++++

When I walked into the hotel’s bathroom I went straight to the sink and splashed my face with cold water. This was the only way I could think of to clear my mind; all I could think about was the fact that I was Blake’s mate. This fact alone was enough to scare the life out of me, but now that I have found out that I could be shifting anytime soon, that scared me even more.

Once I had finished freshening up I walked back into that main hotel room. Blake was sitting on the edge of the couch waiting for me.

“Are you ready?” I asked standing above him, this seemed to wake him up out of some weird daydream that he was probably having.

“Yup” Blake got off the couch and started heading towards the door.

The elevator ride was silent as we went downstairs into the hotel’s lobby. Blake walked up to the man behind the counter; this was the same one as yesterday and he had the exact same look of distaste on his face as yesterday.

“We’ll be checking out now” He smiled politely handing over our room key.

The man behind the counter grumbled something that I couldn’t understand before turning back to his work.

“Wow someone’s got there man-period” I said as soon as we stepped out the fancy front doors.

Blake chuckled and shook his head.

We’d been on the road for a couple of hours when I began to feel shakes all through my body, I could feel my bones moving beneath my skin. I tried to call out to Blake but he couldn’t hear me over the radio which was playing loudly through the small car.

I went to turn the radio off when I heard a loud crack; one of my bones just broke. The ear piercing scream I let out finally caught his attention. Blake looked over at me just as another of my bones broke, this time my leg…I think.

Blake’s eyes widened and he swerved on the road, “Crap!”

A couple of excruciating seconds later Blake had pulled over to the side of the road and pulled me out of the car, he was now carrying me into the forest on the side of the road.

I looked up to see Blake’s worried expression; my vision was beginning to go blurry on the edges, until I couldn’t see anything at all. But I could feel, I could feel Blake placing me on the ground and I could feel my bones still breaking.

The breaking of my ones kept going on and on until my last bone, my spine, snapped. I let out a shrill scream before everything went completely black.

I woke up to the feel of someone stroking me, I went to tell them off but all that came out was an animalistic growl.

“Angel?” said a voice, a voice I could recognize from anywhere, Blake “Oh Angel you’re awake, I thought you’d never wake” Blake sounded worried.

I tried to answer him again but still no words came out. Why can’t I speak?

Then it all came back to me. The horrible pain, my bones breaking, Blake carrying me into the forest……Had I shifted?
