It all started when Rachel ran into the class, tears streaming down her face. She had missed yesterday, but she missed a lot of days. I also hadn't heard from Harry since he texted me saying he was going for a walk, and I was starting to worry. My suspicions were confirmed when Rachel said she needed me to come with her, and that it needed to be fast. She grabbed my arm and dragged me through the hallways, until we reached the doors of the school. There was a limo waiting there. I looked over at her in surprise. Was this for us?
"Get in, I'll explain on the way there," she said ignoring my look.
"Okay..." I was slightly hesitant but I got in the back of the vehicle anyways. Rachel's tears had subsided to slight sniffles and she was now staring at me intently.
"What?" I asked her. There was a moment of silence as she looked over me.
"So, a witch, huh," she said finally. My defences instantly shot up.
"Witches aren't real. Why would you say that?"
"Because I'm the Oracle of Delphi and your friend is on the way to a half-blood camp with my gravely injured friend right now. I'm taking you there now." I stared at her open mouthed. I knew what the Oracle of Delphi was, I wasn't stupid, but it was just a myth.
"Please, explain more."
"The Greek gods of Olympus are real. Zeus, Poseidon—"
"I know the Greek gods," I cut her off. She barely acknowledged me but stopped naming them anyways.
"Well they have lots of kids with mortals called demigods or half-bloods. We just finished our second war in two years, and Percy, who I believe was your wizard friend's best friend, had fallen into Tartarus last year with his girlfriend." I remembered Harry talking about how his girlfriend made Percy a lot happier. "So, they literally went through Hell?"
"Pretty much. They both made it back, but they have a hard time without each other sometimes. Right now, we are on our way to the safe place for demigods called Camp Half-Blood. There's also a Roman camp for kids born from Roman gods, but that's to far. Your friend, Harry, is already at CHB, they arrived yesterday evening after a fight with some emposai." She looked at me, about to explain, but then she realized I already knew what they were so just kept talking. "Annabeth was injured badly, and obviously we knew you guys were already magic, so they brought him there and now I'm bringing you there as well."
"How did you know we were wizards?" I asked, trying to figure out everything about this conversation.
"Well, I'm the Oracle of Delphi and I've seen some images of you and the black haired boy coming, and Percy is one of the most powerful demigods of the century, along with maybe Nico, and he can sense magical aura from 50 miles away."
"Who's Nico?" I asked. Rachel chuckled a bit.
"You really do want to know everything, don't you. And he's just a friend of mine, son of Hades."
"Wait, so is this camp providing this limo?" Rachel's face hardened and she looked away.
"No, it's mine, but it doesn't matter how I got it," she said, seeing the look on my face and knowing what I was about to ask. The tone of her voice made me not ask.
"Look, we're here," Rachel said, pointing out the window. All that was there was a green field.
"There's nothing—" I cut myself off, knowing full well what magic can do to hide things.
"It's called the Mist," Rachel clarified for me, "It's the veil that hides the way things really are."
"Miss. Dare, are you and you're friend okay to get there on your own?"
"We're good, thanks Steven," Rachel replied politely, but I could see her clenched fists. She quickly ushered me outside the vehicle and onto the grassy space.
"So, what's actually here?"
"It's the camp I was telling you about. Camp Half-Blood. That's where your friend is right now. Come on, we have to go, something doesn't feel right," Rachel replied hurriedly, already beginning to run up the hill. I ran to catch up to her.
"I don't know if you'll be able to make it through the borders, technically your not a demigod. But I can get someone else to let you in to the camp, I can't because I'm not a demigod, I'm only the oracle so I can get in."
"Oh, that's okay," I replied easily. She suddenly stopped, and in the back of my mind I could see what was really there, it was beginning to become more clear.
"Here it is. Do you want to try going through?" Rachel asked.
"It's worth a try," I responded, because why not. She stepped through the border first, and I saw her encouraging me on the other side. I tried to go through as well, and I braced for impact, but nothing happened. I passed right through.
"Hm," Rachel said when I was inside the camp, "Maybe wizards and witches can come into camp. Weird." But she didn't really sound like she was paying attention, her eyes were staring in the distance when suddenly she grasped her head and crumpled.
"Rachel!" I cried, running to her side. She was already starting to stand up though.
"What happened?" I asked, my heart still racing.
"We have to go, fast." It was weird seeing Rachel like this, usually she was the slightly weird, artistic girl who didn't have any cares about anything. She always wore crazy paint splattered stuff on weekends in the dorms and she reminded me a lot of Luna in a way. But no. This was serious Rachel, worrying about the safety of her friends. She sprinted off and grabbed something from a curly brown haired boys hands. He had a mischievous smile and elf like features.
"Hey!" he yelled.
"Sorry Conner!" she yelled, way ahead of me, "I need this!" she scowled at him. It looked like she grabbed...a blue plastic doll? I couldn't see it properly. The boy scowled back at her before running off in a different direction.
"Rachel! Slow down!" I yelled, hating being left behind.
"Sorry!" she said, slowing her pace a little. Not soon after, we arrived at what I assumed was the infirmary.
"Come on," Rachel rushed. She opened the doors and I didn't like what I saw. There was a bed with a curly haired blonde in it, and she was bleeding through a bandaged hole just under the heart in the rib cage. At her side was a blonde haired boy who seemed to be the doctor, a black-haired boy with sea-green eyes that were red and puffy, and standing there, next to the boy with the sea-green eyes was Harry himself, with his own emerald green ones, looking quite scared.
"Hermione!" he yelled, as soon as he spotted me. He ran over and gave me. a hug.
"Thank god you're here," he mumbled into my ear. I knew how he felt. Being here was strange, even if Rachel was my best friend. Thinking of her, I immediately looked over to her. She was talking to the boy with sea-green eyes. Harry saw me looking, and murmured "That's Percy. The girl on the bed is Annabeth, his girlfriend. She sustained a poison dagger wound that went straight through her side, and she's not healing properly with their medicines. They can't figure out why, and they have no way to fix it." I just stared at him.
"Are you an idiot?" I asked quite loud, feeling protective over the blonde girl even if I hadn't even heard her talk. Harry looked at me confusedly.
"What?"
"Have you thought of maybe trying...oh I don't know.....A HEALING SPELL!?" I felt suddenly angry and I didn't know why, it was all so overwhelming. Harry looked shocked as well as almost everyone else in the room–even Annabeth who was barely conscious–at my sudden outburst. Suddenly my head cleared and I realized what I just did.
"Oh...I didn't mean....I'm sorry...." I was stuttering, confused at why I was so angry. Then a boy stepped out of the doorway, he had red hair and a cruel smile. Percy glared at him.
"What do you want, Ben?" he scowled.
"Just keeping the moral up," the guy—Ben— smirked back.
"Please, just go away. There's enough going on here without you messing with everyone's emotions."
"Fine, fine. Just wanted to see how your blondie friend was doing." Percy's features tightened and his fists clenched at his side at that comment. Rachel put a hand on his shoulder and he relaxed a bit, still glaring at Ben. Ben then slipped out the doorway and into the hall.
"Sorry about that. He's a son of Ares, god of war, and he can mess with people's emotions."
"Oh." I shrugged uselessly, then remembered the idea I had earlier.
"Percy, do you think it may be okay if I try some magic on her? It may work different against the poison than the special medicine you have," I suggested. I saw his eyes light up at possibility, before looking at me hesitantly.
"Do you really think it may help?" I shrugged at that.
"It's worth a try. It will probably at least get rid of some poison in her system and make it easier for the god food or whatever you guys have to work." Then I had a question. "What do you guys use for healing anyways?"
"Nectar and ambrosia," Rachel responded quickly, "I can't have any, it'll burn any mortal to ashes."
"Good to know. It may have the same effect on wizards." Harry then nudged me, and I remembered what I was supposed to do. I was a lot better at healing magic than Harry was, so it was up to me. I pulled my wand out and took a step towards Annabeth. I then began muttering a few different spells, trying to see which ones worked. It appeared to be working, Annabeth's squinted eyes slowly became more open and clear, and her muscles relaxed. I saw through the bandages that the blood flow was slowing. Percy looked over at me, eyes shining like a little kid. I slipped my wand in my pocket, proud of what I had done, and I felt Percy engulf me in a hug.
"Thank you," he murmured, and I could hear the smile in his voice.
We stayed for the next month at camp, learning more about demigods and how they train. As soon as Annabeth got better, her and I became great friends. I heard Percy complaining to Harry that 'oh great, now there's two of them' which I chuckled at. Rachel had to go back to school after the first few days, but Percy refused to let Annabeth go back on the quest, and the advisor Chiron (who was a centaur by the way) let him and Annabeth sit out the rest of this quest. Everyone agreed, they needed a break. As for me and Harry, after the month at camp half-blood we decided to just go back to London, after promising we wouldn't tell anyone except Mcgonagall what happened. Not even Ron. I couldn't help but think that maybe she knew about demigods all along, and she sent us here to show us how bad other people have it as well. If so, then this quest was a success, and Harry and I were more happy then we had ever been. As I waved goodbye to my new friends on the last day of camp, I couldn't help but think what we had discovered.A/N: Finally finished!! I'm not sure I love the ending, it's kind of rushed but hope u like it!
