Ella's POV
"Ella! Charlie is picking you up in precisely 10 minutes!" my Mum's voice rung up the stairs.
I sighed and flopped onto the bed, thinking back about my memories. The farm and small town, Jerilderie here had been my home for so so long and I felt I couldn't part from it but being offered an acting oppurtunity in the big city was hard to say no to.
And there were the people here as well. My dad left my mum when I was about 5 but I couldn't remember much. My brother Charlie was my best friend.
Acting was want I wanted to do, for a living. I knew straight back from our village's primary school I wanted to act when my teacher, Ms. Maye gave me the role of Mary in the navity Christmas play.
I honestly fell in love with the bright lights shining down on me, making me feel... special. I loved the way the audience would laugh, gasp and clap for me. I honestly just loved being the centre of attention, but not in the bad way, I just completely loved how everyone can be intrigued by a person's acting.
It was actually Ms. Maye who had offered me the oppurtunity to act onstage in Sydney in the Opera House for a couple of months. I didn't know anything about the Opera House but that it was famous for its amazing performances of music and dramatic arts but I remember after my performance of The Nutcracker with me as the lead role, Ms. Maye ran up to me with eyes shining and congratulated me on my 'spectacular' performance.
I was so confused and taken aback when she asked me to go to Sydney for the role as one of the step-sisters in 'Cinderella the Musical'. I mean, who knew Ms. Maye was once apart of NIDA, the school of dramatic arts? Well, not me.
She gave me a letter with a couple of scripts inside (I'm guessing she planned this beforehand) and since then I've been re-reading them over and over again until they were filled with pen scribbles and creases.
So here I am, lying in my bedroom which was very plain since I was a boarder at Finnely, which was my private school I attended since I couldn't exactly go back and forth everyday as Finnely was 3 hours away from my farm.
As I got up from my bed and looked around the room one last time, tears suddenly pricked up in my eyes but I quickly wiped them away and grabbed my carrier bag before heading out.
I was only going away for a few months anyway, I'll be back here in no time, right?
