Chapter Four

"Alright everyone, are we ready?" I ask around the room.

Blaize has the sword gripped firmly in his hand, Helena has a small knife she found in one of the desk drawers in her hand, Leif and Tempest each have a some form of hitting weapon, and Niobe has a long stick. The stick doesn't sound like much, but it's very sturdy and can easily break someone's bones if the impact is great enough.

I say we're ready to hunt Panas down. I just hope no one else gets killed along the way. Panas will not get any more blood on his hands.

We walk to the door, and I wave my hands to get rid of the barrier placed around it. As soon as the barrier is completely down, I begin to walk down one of the narrow hallways that lead to main room.

It turns out the center of the entire manor is the ballroom. Life is weird sometimes.

We make our way into the ballroom, and the entire area is dark. The only light given is the light cast from the moonlight through the stained-glass windows near the ceiling.

Panas has this weird ritual. Whatever the damned thing is, I need to stop him!

I wave my hands, causing little flames to shoot to the candles in the room to give more light. Helena and Tempest jump when I do so.

"I'm still not used to you having powers," Helena speaks softly.

"You better get used to it now because once I see Panas, there will be more magic where that came from," I warn.

We aren't walking shoulder to shoulder to each other, but we are in a loose group as we make our way across the room.

I can hear faint laughter. It sounds like Panas' laugh from earlier. Out of nowhere, he appears in the middle of the room, and we all jump in fear. My fear only lasted a second. Anger fills me up instead.

I clench my fists tight, making sure not to make a wrong move.

"How cute," Panas teases, "You guys are all staying close and working together. Just precious!" He sneers. His sword turned into a staff that he holds in his left hand. He uses it almost like a support staff. The rod in his hand looks like a swirly question mark if anything, which is quite odd for a demon.

"You're not getting away this time, Panas!" I yell at him, and instantly start to shoot balls of whatever element I can think of. Fire, water, electricity, I even throw up some mud and gravel and rock from the ground to throw at him. I even create balls of light to throw at him. He needs to lighten up. (Heh)

He easily dodges every one of my attempts at harming him, and it infuriates me more and more. "Ah!" I scream as I vigorously throw more magic balls.

He mocks my magic by laughing everytime I miss. "You think you can easily vanquish me? Have you ever done your research on demons, love?"

"Love? Who are you calling love?" Blaize steps in, but Niobe and Leif hold him back before he could get as close to Panas as I am. Panas could kill Blaize in the blink of an eye if he doesn't focus.

"Oh, jealous, are we?" Panas teases Blaize.

The anger in me is controlling my every move. Once more I attack with nonstop throws of magic at him. I hit him once, but it barely fazes him.

Niobe grabs my arms and shouts, "Rose, it's no use! Don't use all your energy." But it's too late. I used up just enough energy to drain me. I can't bring myself to use anymore magic, and I can barely stand. If it weren't for Niobe, I'd be on the ground, easy bait for Panas.

"Is Rose Vonner getting tired from using up too much magic?" He talks with a baby tone, obviously mocking me once again. This guy really knows how to get on someone's nerves. After he has his fit of laughter, he changes to a more serious tone, but his arrogance is still flourishing. "So, Rose. I have a proposition for you."
