Prologue

“Hello, hi!” the girl in front of the second grade class chirped. “I'm Juliet Thompson. I am six years old and born on October seven. I come from San Francisco. Nice to meet you everyone!”

Their teacher, Teacher Angie, clapped twice. “Thank you, dear. Welcome to Edmunds Elementary! Everyone say hi to Juliet!”

The whole class burst into an almost perfect chorus of “Hi Juliet!” The only problem was that this one boy, too mesmerized by her prettifulness, said 'Hi, Juwuwiliet!' It was just his luck that Juliet didn't notice his mispronunciation at that moment.

“Okay Juliet, just sit down beside Aaron right… there.” Teacher Angie told her.

Aaron's heart started to beat faster than he ever thought it could. What would he say if ever she talked to him?!

As she calmly sat down on the space beside him, Juliet smiled at Aaron, oblivious to the fast paced pounding of his heart right then. “Hi Aaron!”

He started to panic deep down inside and started stuttering, committing the mistake he made moments again. “Hi Juwuwiliet!” He swallowed, sending her the best smile he could muster.

Juliet received the wrong impression of his words, thinking that he was trying to insult her. She turned tomato red. “It's not Juwuwuwuwuliet! It's Juliet!”

“Juwuliet?” Aaron asked. He was panicked, and he was so mad at himself for making the prettifullest girl he has ever seen angry.

Juliet looked like she was about to cry. “Juliet  J-U-L-I-E-T! JULIET!”

“I'm sorry Juwiet,” Aaron felt the tears coming, and he looked over to his Teacher who was staring at the two.

“Juliet!” Juliet reiterated, she was shouting now, very red with frustration.

“Aaron! Juliet! Would you please tell me what the both of you are fighting about?” Teacher Angie asked worriedly, squatting down to their height. She was young, pretty even, so Aaron had an urge to do his best to not make her mad like he felt with Juliet. She looked at Aaron with her pretty green eyes. “Aaron, it's Juliet's first day here! What did you do this time?” He started to cry silently because he had made the both of them mad.

Aaron didn't reply because he was so, so sad. He got even sadder since he never noticed that his whole class was already in the middle of their daily routine of counting up to one hundred. That was one of his favorite parts of the day!! 'It's all because of prettiful Juwuwuwiliet!' he thought angrily, wiping the tears with his forearm roughly.

“He called me Juwuwuwuwuwuwuwuwuwuliet!” Juliet huffed, still red.

Their teacher smiled softly, feeling a bit pity for Aaron for getting himself into this mess with a very short-tempered girl. She finally understood. “Juliet, just give Aaron a few days to get used to your name okay?”

Aaron felt deflated now, too. 'How could I talk to her without feeling so… What's that word again..? Oh yeah! Weird! I feel weird!' he said to himself in his head.

Nodding as slowly as she could, Juliet still didn't turn her frown upside down. “Fine. But I'm not talking to Aaron 'til then.”

And that… was the start of a very complicated relationship. Kind of.
