Chapter 3

I put on my Ray-bans and open the door to my dorm room quietly. People shouldn't notice that the person under all these clothes is me. I mean, tons of guys here wear jeans, white v-necks, leather jackets and Ray-bans all together right?

Supposedly.

“A-man! Nice cover dude, heard that Jules is going to talk to you once you get to the school.” Rick, the guy who stays in the dorm across from mine, greets me as I lock my room. Dammit, I actually thought that no one would greet me until I was at least 15 minutes out in the open. Guess not. And did he say what I just heard, or did my messed up imagination think of that again?

I tilt my head to the side. “Ah, morning Rick! Is that so? 'Cause I mean, Juliet would never stoop down to my level,” I swallow. It was all pretty much true, sadly.

“Well, those are the rumors coming straight from Emily Dawson.” My eyes widen underneath my shades. Emily Dawson, aka, Juliet's best friend and roommate.

“You gotta be kidding me.”

“I don't know, but good luck anyways.” And with a final tone, he adds. “Don't mess this opportunity up.”

My mouth hangs open as he walks away. Does the whole school know I like her now?I sigh and trudge towards the elevator of my dorm building.

Once I'm out of the building, Riley's suddenly beside me, slinging an arm over my shoulders for support, I guess.

“Hangover?” I ask casually.

“The worst,” he replies. Then he smiles weakly. “Looks like you owe no one fifty bucks.”

Hey, wait a second I'm in my disguise! “How'd you know it was me?!” I hiss.

Riley chuckles. “Well my friend, even on a hangover, I could still tell that it's you by the way you walk.” He walks a few steps in front of me in a different manner: arms slouched, feet dragged, grumpy, forced steps.

“I do not walk like that, Riley.”

”Oh, yes you do.” He slings his arm around me once again.

“Well, maybe only for today, and it's not even my fault I do! I mean, who's the one who told everyone that I still liked Jules?!”

“Relax! Look at where you are! Em said that Juliet's gonna be asking you out to the Rivers' party later on. That is the closest you've got to hanging out with her romantically. You should be thanking me!”

“Thanking you? Thanking you for spilling my last tinge of dignity to the whole campus? To my subscribers? Practically to the whole world that has access to YouTube!” I almost shout. “You know what?” I shrug off his arm. “I don't even know why I'm still talking to you. You're my best friend, you should know how I feel about this!” I start walking away from him.

“And you know what? You should change the way you feel about it then. Because without me, she would never know about anything.” Then he does the most unthinkable. “HEY GUYS, AARON'S OVER THERE!”

I start to sprint, dodging anyone who looks like they're about to approach me, and open the nearest door to run inside the room.

Why is everything so damn hard?My back slides down the door and I sit there, sit there waiting for the school bell to ring. A late remark is something I could handle, facing all the smirks is something else. I lift my head up a bit and take in my surroundings. Holy... Pink cubicles, fancy faucets, air freshener in the air. And the worst part? Someone's inside one of the cubicles, and she just used the flush.

Panic swells up inside of me. HOW DO I HIDE?!She would- she would think that I'm a pervert when I only ran inside here out of complete helplessness and cluelessness.

I froze as the door opened a crack. “Oh my god!” a girl shrieks in an almost too familiar voice…

Out of all people.

Why'd it have to be Juliet?

“It's not- this isn't- I'm not-”

“This isn't what I think?” she finishes for me, opening the door fully.

“Uhm, yeah.”

“Well, if this isn't you accidentally going in here because you were blinded from running away from every other person on campus, then what?” she mock-asks me.

”Yeah, it's- it's totally not that,” I reply, not believing that I could even utter a word.

She walks over to the faucets and re-fixes her hair when it looks perfect as is. “Don't worry, it's alright. I mean, who could resist the boy who sung me a song on YouTube?” she laughs. “But seriously, freshmen have to get used to being schoolmates with some hot, good-looking, YouTube famous guys.”

“Uh...” She just called you hot Aaron, think of something!

“Anyways...” Juliet continues, like I didn't just say 'Uh...' stupidly. “I was thinking if you could go with me to the party this weekend.”

“Leo and Anne Rivers' Halloween party?” I ask cautiously, repeating what Riley said to me earlier.

“Yup!”

“I, ah… o- okay,” I force myself to say.

“Really?! That's great! Oh my god. I can't wait to tell Emily!” she chirps, zipping her Louis Vuitton up.

I stand up awkwardly, knowing that a girl zipping up her bag meant that she wanted to leave already. “So uhm, pick you up by your dorm at 8?”

“Absolutely.” Right as she says that, the bell rings. She kisses my cheek and looks back at me once the door to the bathroom was open. “See you later!”

Later. Later must mean that she's going to be talking to me again.

Excuse me while I die.
