Camila's POV

It was a new day, and Lauren and I were back in chemistry. Sitting at our lab table. Lauren currently had her head tilted to the side, watching me as I tried to turn on our appliances. Her head was almost laying on my shoulder, and I could just feel her stare on my face, and I already knew she was wearing her innocent little smile that I've already gotten used to.

"So you don't remember?" she asked, more like stated while I wrote a few things in my notebook.

"What?" I asked while stealing a quick glance at her, then looking back down to my notebook. She was fiddling with a pencil while she spoke.

"Well I stood behind you in the sixth grade play, you were the princess... and I was Russian soldier number three," she stated with a sigh.

"I don't remember that." I said already over the conversation.

"Course not. Princess never remembers the little people." she stated in disappointment.

"Excuse me while I cry for you." I said looking at her weirdly.

"You should." she said laughing sardonically. "You should cry for me from your early division tower." she said casually, while I looked at her with a questioning face. "It's posted in the front office."

"Why do they do that?" I asked annoyed.

"Why Duke?" she asked curiously wanting to know why I was going to that College.

"Great faculty, division one, that kinda stuff."

"Well sure, you get what you pay for." Lauren stated.

"Actually, I have a partial scholarship." I said while attaching cords to the appliances we were using, while Lauren picked up a bottle of who knows what.

"Ah, that's right."

"That goes to positive..." I said distractedly.

"Tennis." Lauren stated while dripping liquid from the bottle all over the appliance I just hooked up. It made a weird fusing noise, almost like it would blow up. "Basically they give you a bunch of money for hitting a ball over a net." she said, but it was as if she was thinking it through as the words came out of her mouth.

"Something like that." I said annoyed. "Where did you apply?" I asked in a bitchy tone as I set everything down and turned to look solely on her.

"Nowhere." she said cut the topic instantly. Putting the bottle down and turning to stare at me.

"Not going to college." I stated.

"Not in the Christian sense, no. I'm not." She finalized while I smiled at her.

"So what are you doing after graduation?" I asked out of complete curiosity.

"The sky's the limit." she whispered while looking directly into my eyes.

I nodded my head and sarcastically said, "That's informative."

Lauren just decided to nod her head with me as I turned back to my notebook and then I whipped my head back towards her, "So why are you taking an AP class?" I wasn't understanding her logic within all of this.

"Thought you had me pegged?"

"Advanced placement in what?" I asked right back. She took a moment to breathe while staring into my eyes with a smile. I nodded when she didn't reply, "I'm sure there's a very simple explanation." I then went back to my notebook.

"Yes of course there is Camila, and you're not gonna stop until you figure it out." Lauren said exasperated.

"That sounds like a challenge." I said firmly, turning towards her once again.
