Camila's POV

The next morning, I got to school, found Dinah, and went to my locker only to find a note. I looked at Dinah skeptically and grabbed the note as we walked to sit on the lawn. I sighed and opened up the note.

The note was titled 'Reasons you should go out with me' Dinah then started to read it aloud. "A, it's not a date. B, you are my lab partner. C, just to see." Dinah paused and looked at me, "Clever." she rolled her eyes and continued reading. "D. Bowling is the most popular sport in America, and it's important that we fit in."

To that I giggled and motioned for Dinah to keep going.

"And E. It is not, and never will be, a date. W-what... is she like, stalking you? Or something." Dinah stuttered and turned to look at me.

"So what should I do about her?" I sighed.

"Uh, simple." Dinah crinkled up the notebook paper and laughed sarcastically. "Boom."

I just nodded and sighed, not daring to say anything. The bell for class rang, and everyone headed to their respective classes.

English.

"Okay, you're papers on The Great Gatsby are due in two weeks. For those of you without a calculator, that's May fourth." My teacher was lecturing. As I turned to write down the due date of my essay, I found a note from Lauren on my 'To Do' list.

'5 PM- Meet lab partner for Anit-date. Note: Don't be a chicken.'

Below the note was a horribly drawn chicken.

For the entirety of class, I thought about going with Lauren, and I thought about not going with her. I really had no idea what to do.

***** LUNCH *****

I was laying on the lawn behind the baseball field with Austin, Dinah, and Normani. They were going on and on about college, and touring the world.

"I'm more interested in the wine drinking heritage." I spoke, thinking deeply.

Normani then spoke up, "Amsterdam, wake and bake heritage."

We were all laughing and having a relaxing lunch. I then looked towards the parking lot to see Lauren sitting in her truck staring at me. She then smirked and held a notebook out her window; the paper read '5 PM'. I thought for a second and then looked at Austin, "Hey can we make our date a little later tonight? Like 9. I forgot I was supposed to help Sofi with an English paper."

He groaned, "The movie's at eight."

"Oh shit." I sighed.

"Eh, we'll figure out something else." he shrugged it off.

I smiled gratefully at Austin, and looked back to the parking lot to find that Lauren and her truck were gone.

***** 5 PM *****

I was sitting comfortably in the passenger seat of Lauren's truck. It was quiet, but it wasn't awkward.

"I don't know. You really wanna base a relationship with a great guy like Austin on lies and deceit? Why don't you just tell him the truth?" She asked in a monotone, while turning to glance at me.

I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at her in shock. She was the one who asked me to go on this damn anti-date-bowling escapade.

"You're spending a couple hours with your lab partner." she sighed and glanced at me again.

I laughed a little. "What I do with Austin is none of your business."

"My point exactly." she sighed, and turned into a thrift stores parking lot.
