Nicole's POV

We exited the store to find that the streets were dead. This time, cellphone towers and power lines were down in the streets.

    "Holy shit...." Carly mumbled.

"What happened while we were in there...?" Ellie wondered out loud.

"Looks like another monster made it's way through here...a big one..." I spoke.

"Well where should we go now?" Ellie asked.

"I think we should go where these monsters would probably be the most comfortable in. Where they'd feel the most at home." I explained.

"Well pull out a book. Whose up first?" Carly suggested.

I put my hand in my bag and at random I pulled out a book.

"'The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena', Where would he be?". I replied.

"Pasadena?" Carly answered. I glared at her.

"The ice rink!" Ellie exclaimed, snapping her fingers.

I smiled at her and we started heading towards the ice rink. Upon getting there, the streets were empty. The blue ice rink sign still glowing above the door. We entered and it was as if a tornado had been through there. Almost everything was broken or smashed, or at the very least pushed over. There were humongous scratch marks on the walls.

As we made our way out to the ice, the abominable snowman was nowhere in sight. Thats when I heard a low growl off to the side.

"Ellie was that your stomach?" I asked.

"Sorry. Im starving! Hey look candy!" Ellie cheered, pointing to the center of the ice where a pack of starbust layed.

Ellie started towards the starburst. There was something off about that....

"NO ELLIE DON'T-" I started to yell but a loud roaring noise cut me off.

The abominable snowman came flying down from the center score board panel and onto the ice, right in front of Ellie, knocking her on her ass. Slowly she stared up into it's menacing face. It roared again and she screamed.

     "Ellie! No!" I screamed.

"Get the book out!" Carly ordered.

The abominable snowman stopped focusing on Ellie now, and turned his attention to Carly and I, mostly me because I had his book in my hand. He roared and began running towards us. I tried opening the book but he got to us too quick and batted it out of my hands, sending it flying across the ice. The snowman also whacked me across the ice, the opposite way of the book. I hit the walls of the rink hard. The blow winded me.

Ellie began running for the book, which the snowman noticed and hit the ice, causing her to fall and slide away from it. Fortunately she slid next to a rack of hockey sticks. The snowman began charging towards the book but Ellie grabbed a hockey stick and threw it across the ice, hitting the book out of it's path.

The abominable snowman stopped and turned to Ellie, slowly walking toward her. It lifted it's arm to swing at her but right before it hit her, it's hand started to turn black. Liquid, inky black. It immediately realized what was happening and tried to get away but it was too late. He was being sucked back into his book. He let out one last ear piercing roar before he disappeared into his paper prison once again.

Carly closed the book and closed the lock. She had ran for the book when the abominable snowman had refocused on Ellie. Carly helped her up just as I was regaining consciousness on the other side of the rink.

"Back in the book, safe and sound. You ok?" Carly said, handing me the book.

I rubbed my head. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks guys." I smiled.

"Alright what's the next book?" Ellie asked.

Reaching my hand in I pulled out a new book. It was the first one ever written.

"It's 'Welcome to Dead House'. The monsters that came out of here were really pale, almost zombie like people." I explained.

    "Zombies? Sooo....the cemetery?" Carly asked.

"Can't hurt to look." I replied.

The girls and I made our way to the edge of town, where the old cemetary was. It was starting to get dark outside. Monster catching sure took awhile....As we entered through the front gates of the cemetary I took into account that it was very foggy. My eyes cautiously looked over each grave for signs of an undead person. Nothing.

"I don't know Nicole, I don't see anything." Ellie observed.

"Yeah I don't either. But where else would they be?" I asked.

Before she could respond, we all heard voices. They were nearby so we followed the sound. Hiding behind a tree I peered around it and saw a horde of people standing in a group. They were all listening to a big husky man wearing a suit and hat. I observed their skin. Pale and sickly grey. Decaying almost. That had to be the living dead. I took a step forward and accidentally snapped a twig, making the horde turn our way.

Suddenly Carly screamed and fell backwards. Looking down, there was an undead man coming up from his grave, he had grabbed her ankle, it looked like a construction worker. I kicked the guy's hand and helped Carly to her feet. We began running because the horde was closing in as well. As we were running I reached into my bookbag and yanked out the book. I began opening it up when I ran into someone.

"Where do you think you're going?" A pale skinned zombie boy with dark blonde hair and icy blue eyes asked.

"She's trying to put us back in our book Ray!" A zombie girl with golden braided pigtails said, coming up beside the boy.

"Oh I don't think they'll be doing that Karen. Because they'll be one of us soon. It's time to feed." The boy, Ray stated, his lips twisting in a wicked smile.

"Like hell it is!" I back-talked and flung open the book.

Ray and Karen glared and lunged at us, only to miss because the blue smoke was enveloping them and turning them back to ink. Behind us the horde had caught up and I turned around and pointed the book at them as well. They shielded their faces from it and froze, moaning out cries of terror as they returned to the book. I threw the now closed and locked book back into my bag and traded it out for our next victim.

"'The Werewolf of Fever Swamp'". I read aloud.
