It was six o'clock in the morning and I still couldn't fall asleep. The events of the previous night got me all freaked out. 'Did I do something wrong?' I thought I had been clear as to what my desires were. How could he just take me to my room and shove me inside without a word? 'Is that even logical?' I remembered how his eyes darkened at my words, but then he went crazy. I threw my pillow on the floor and turned to the other side.
"Good morning." Yoko's voice startled me. "So, how does it feel to be a woman?"
"I wouldn't know," I said with a clipped voice which made my roommate sit up.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, he took me on a picnic at the river which was really, really sweet." I remembered all the detail he put in the picnic and felt warmth spreading in my chest.
"So, nothing else happened?"
"Well, we kissed."
"And?"
"That's it... I even told him that I wanted to sleep with him." I lowered my voice as I finished my statement, but Yoko got every word of it.
"You did? Look at you!" She started laughing, she was so excited it was scary. "So, what's the plan now?"
"I have no plan."
"I have one." Yoko's eyes sparkled. "We still have one more night in Kyoto, you need to seduce him tonight."
"Seduce him? You know what he did after I told him I wanted to sleep with him yesterday? Nothing. He didn't even utter a word. He just dragged me to the room and shoved me in. He didn't even say goodnight." I sighed loudly. "If only I could read his mind to understand how he thinks."
"Trust me Sam, with the plan I have in mind, he won't be able to say no to you. No boy can say no to my plan." Her grin grew bigger, I didn't know if it made me more relaxed or more nervous.
I stayed away from Kei all morning at the instructions of Yoko. After we visited the Fushimi-Inari shrine, we were given some time for shopping. The little souvenirs were all so cute.
"Sam, if Kei wasn't here what would you get him as a souvenir?" Yoko's question was a bit odd, but I answered it honestly.
"I don't know." She shifted in her spot uncomfortably. I even spied a little blush tinting her cheeks.
"What do boys like, I mean." It was finally clear. Yoko liked someone.
"Do you have someone you like, Yoko?" Her cheeks got a darker shade of red. She stayed silent for a while.
"Yes." Her voice cane as a whisper. It was my turn to get excited.
"Who is he? Do I know him? Does he know you like him?" A hint of pain traversed her face.
"He doesn't know. Nobody knows, actually. I'm sorry but I can't tell you who he is, yet. I'm not ready yet." At the state this conversation was making her feel, I didn't push it. It was the first time I saw Yoko like that.
"Ok, let's try to find something suitable for this lucky bastard." Yoko bursted out laughing and I joined her.
We looked through the possible gifts, and Yoko settled on a blue bracelet with a cute fox hanging from it. She was so happy with her purchase.
After all the students had lunch, we were given more time for shopping but this time it was in downtown Kyoto. My friend and I started walking down the streets, looking at the beautiful stores. We stopped in front of a dress shop. All the dresses were so pretty. I could swear they were out of a fairy tale.
