@captainbrooks: time to start over

Is Cara Brook leaving the modelling industry?

Earlier this afternoon Harriet Jones sat down with model Cara Brooks to discuss the rumours that have surfaced about the model leaving the industry— for good. The rumours began to circulate on Wednesday, when Cara tweeted 'time to start over'. Despite questions from fans, Cara gave no explanation, leaving them to come up with their own theories on what the tweet means. There are quite a few that are plausible, some that are questionable. I've compiled a list of them below.

1) London: Following the tweet, some fans — myself included — where led to believe that Miss. Brooks would be returning to London permanently after spending only two weeks back in the US. They also believed that Paisley Smith and Jack Bryant were to move with her, since the trio seemed to have grown close. Jack seems to have found his place amongst the group, and has even joked that he is the 'Good Thea' of the group. This comment brought Thea fans to arms, as they took to their keyboards to insult Bryant and Brooks, though they were soon shut down by fans of the two, who quickly came to the model's defence, stating that despite what apparently transpired between Brooks and O'Brien, Thea should have 'stood by her friend' instead of 'planting a knife firmly in her back'.

2) Jack Bryant: Second on our list is the aforementioned Jack Bryant, model and good friend of Cara Brooks. He's second on our list because this theory is tied with the London theory. People believe that Cara's tweet is alluding to a more romantic relationship with the model, who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere when Cara was on her trip in London (though it was later revealed that the two worked on a shoot together there). Cara's love life has been a popular topic amongst fans and 'haters' alike.

When Brooks first drew the attention of the Teen Wolf cast and their loyal fans, she had recently moved in with her boyfriend of two years, Spencer Chase. The two seemed happy, though the break-up still came as no surprise to fans, who had already started 'shipping' Brooks with O'Brien. Following Chase was, of course, O'Brien. Fans commented on the way Brooks looked at O'Brien like he was the universe and how O'Brien looked at her like she held all of the stars in her eyes — I thought it was rather poetic, and so did Brooks, who said in an interview that her feelings for O'Brien were 'something out of a story book' and that she'd 'never felt like this before, not even with Spencer'. Of course, their relationship ended a few months ago, with the only reasoning brought to us by Thea Mills, who claims that Brooks cheated on O'Brien very much like she did to Chase with O'Brien. Since neither party have spoken up, Thea's story seems to ring true.

And now, fans are suspecting a Cara/Jack romance. This theory has received mixed signals from fans. Some believe that Jack will be good for Cara, and vice versa. They believe that the pair could quite make it in the long haul. Whereas others believe that Jack will just be another notch in Cara's belt. Whatever the outcome, should Cara and Jack start dating, then we wish them the best.

3) Modelling: Finally, there's the modelling. Since the tweet, a few rumours of Cara leaving the modelling industry has surfaced, and what made the rumours seem more factual than fictional was the tweet posted by Cara's agent, Laura Lane, which said nothing more than 'We've got a sad announcement coming soon :('.

Before Harriet Jones' interview with Cara, she cut out little slips of paper with the words London, Jack Bryant, and Modelling on them, and later asked Cara to pick the one that related most to her tweet. She picked the one stating Modelling. Jones then questioned whether this meant Brooks was leaving the modelling industry.

Sadly, the answer is yes.

"I haven't been doing it very long," said the twenty-four-year-old, "And I've loved every minute of it, but there's a lot I've got to take into consideration. There are plenty of girls out there that can do what I've been doing — that dream of doing it, and it's selfish of me to continue doing something that never was and still isn't my dream. There's a much bigger picture here, too, one that I'd rather not go into right now, but I assure you that this isn't the last you'll hear of me — it's just the last time you'll see me in a modelling shoot." Her final shoot will take place tomorrow with Jack Bryant.
