I just graduated from College and now I'm frantically looking for a job. I'm an AB Comm graduate and today I'll be applying as a Junior News Associate in SBS Network. Since I was young I've always dreamed of becoming a news anchor and see myself on TV. I find the profession interesting and challenging but getting a job and landing on the position that I wanted so bad was harder than I thought it would be.
There are a lot of fresh graduates who are targeting the same position and most of them came from prestigious universities and colleges and what about me you may ask, I also graduated from a prestigious college but I guess only the people in our town thinks that way. Kidding aside, it was a pretty decent school and yes it is a private one too but who the hell would care if it's located 10,000 miles from the country's capital right? I originally wanted to study in UP or UST but my parents didn't allow me to.
They say that it would be hard for a young girl like me to live alone in such a dangerous environment and that I may get myself into trouble and have my precious life wasted.. blah blah blah... as if I had any other choice.
I mean let's face it, I want to land a job in SBS Network one of the biggest network in the country but there's a fierce competition and who am I kidding, of course they'll prioritize those applicants from the biggest universities in the country. But I really wanted and needed this job so here I am trying to fit it in as I make my way through the busy crowd in a small hallway trying to the fullest of my abilities to stay composed until I get my interview done.
I've been waiting for 2 hours now since I arrived. There are like 500 applicants waiting for their turn. We were all given a number and just my luck I'm the 400th applicant for today... I may need to prepare myself to camp out of the building since the person being interviewed now is applicant #175 and it's almost lunch time. Who knows what time I'll get interviewed?! I heaved a deep sigh and started to look for the cafeteria since it's lunch time already. I looked around the network compound and saw a mini map in one of the gate entrance so I checked it out to see where the cafeteria was. After knowing my destination I started walking towards the cafeteria when some random girl approached me.
“Uhm.. Hi. Are you an applicant as well?” she asked me with a hopeful voice.
“Yes I am. Why do you ask?” I replied. Trying to sound nice since I'm starting to get really irritated probably due to hunger and all the waiting that I still had to bear.
“I'm an applicant too and I came here all alone so I was wondering if you'd like a company for lunch?” she asked. Well, I am feeling a bit lonely now and she doesn't look like a bad person so why not right? Besides, no man is an island. Who knows, if I agreed her offer she might just treat me lunch. Hah! I'm such a genius! ^_^
“Sure! I'm all alone as well so I'm feeling a bit under the weather with all the waiting and everything. I'm Krystal Jung by the way.” I smiled warmly at her as I introduced myself and held my hand out for a handshake. She did the same thing and shook my hand as she introduced herself as well.
