Normally I wouldn't even listen to the crackling of the light beams, but today I had my face pressed up against the glass window of my room. Katherine was much better than it would seem. She hit every target in the middle, showering the grass with wood splinters. For the rest of the lesson my mum was talking to Katherine, I'm not much of a lip reader but I think they were talking about how it felt when magic flowed into her. I don't know what that had to do with light breaking but, what do I know about teaching. I kind of got bored of just watching them talk so I went downstairs and switched the TV on. Not that I actually watched it, something else was bugging me. Something wasn't right.

I took another look at Katherine and noticed that she had a black vein on her left arm. It was something that all training Dark Ones had. Soon it starts going up and eventually gets to your head. I tried not to pay attention at it but it was practically screaming,

"HEY! LOOK AT ME!"

Katherine must have noticed someone was looking at her because she shot me a look saying,

"Mind your own business."

I immediately looked back to the TV which was showing an advertisement about truth potions. If only I could get my hands on one. I could offer her water and mix the truth potion with it. Then I would ask her about that black vein and the potion would make her tell me. Of course she would know that I asked her so that might make us enemies for the rest of our lives and she might go on a quest to rid me from the face of this planet. She might destroy the whole world in the process buuuuttttt... Still worth it!

At the bottom of the advertisement was the address at which the potions were being held. I read it and it was just around the block in an abandoned warehouse. I always wondered what the warehouse contained or used to contain. Well now I know, it's a storage centre for truth potions. I thought it would be something lame like a soap ware house, well you can't always be right.

I was really desperate for that truth potion because it's not always that someone has a black vein instead of a red one. I was determined to know what it meant. My mum would probably say, "You shouldn't poke your nose in everything that you see" but saying that just made me want to know even more, that's how I became so nosy. Basically what I'm saying is that if the whole world gets destroyed by Katherine, it's all my mum's fault!

That night I snuck out of my room which was quite easy because of the fact that my mum is a really loud snorer, which hid all the noise I made. I crept around the corner of the street and there was the old warehouse. It seemed like it was glowing from the inside. A very dim green seemed to be coming out of every crack in the rusty building. The green light pulsed every now and then. Something was happening inside. I stealthily hid in the shadows then ran across the road as fast as I could. The light seemed to be pulsing faster and faster as I approached. There was a small opening in the side, I walked over to it and peered inside. From the position of the hole I couldn't see much. Suddenly an eye appeared on the other end of the hole and I fell back.

"HEY THERE'S A KID BACK HERE!" I heard coming from inside. There were several groans from deeper inside.

"You've said that so many times," said someone else.

"But I'm telling you Steven! It's real this time!" said the first man.

"This is a bit like the story about the boy who cried...Cow? Wait! Don't tell me. I know this one. Umm. Oh yeah, wolf. The boy who cried wolf." Said a third voice.

I decided to leave them alone and started running back home. When I got there my mum was talking to where my dad had gone on the phone. She was looking out the window that's facing the back garden. I crept past her and slowly walked up the stairs. My bed was still like I left it and I decided to change into my pyjamas and go downstairs pretending I had just woken up.
