~<>~Cadence~<>~

She was going to be queen, she needed to be queen.

But the only way that could happen was if she married the first prince, but he was much to cunning to be tricked into drinking a love potion, or any other potion Cadence was capable of making. But she couldn't offer him her services, since everyone suspected of witchcraft in Aurania was burned, for fear that they would bring famine and plague to the land.

But, she was lucky. And since there was going to be a ball at the royal palace of Lantis in the honour of the second prince's graduation as a full fledged air warlock. And her father being one of the seven commanders granted her permission to go as well.

There, she would get the opportunity to seduce the prince, or, if everything else failed, find a way to slip a love potion into his cup.

But, she had a problem.

Her father had just announced to her that a 'guest' would be joining them. And that particular guest just happened to be an assassin.

If the assassin caught her slipping something in the prince's cup, she would kill Cadence, or if she didn't do that she would tell the prince in question.

If Cadence ended up having to explain herself, she would probably be exposed as a potion master, and therefore a witch.

She twirled her ginger red hair around her finger deep in thought.

A sudden knock on her bedroom door made her jump in surprise.
" Come in! " she said towards the door she figured it was probably a servant come to deliver her a message.

When the door opened she wasn't surprised in the least when she saw a maid carrying a silver plater witch carried writing equipment, which consisted of a feather quill, ink, several pieces of parchment, a bowl of hot melted wax and the stamp she would use for the wax.

The maid hurried over to Cadence's desk, putting the plater down on a bit that wasn't covered in scraps of parchment covered from head to toe in recipes and sketches.

The maid headed over to were Cadence was siting, near the window, and handed her a letter with her family's seal on it; a raven carrying a bow.  "Your father has demanded an immediate response, shall I wait here or at your doorstep?" The maid asked. "You may wait outside."

Cadence did not waist a moment ushering the maid outside her siting chambers and opening the letter.

The letter was nothing short of .... weird:

Dear Cadence,

I know that you are already aware of the assassin's presence during our trip to Lantis. In addition to his highness the first Prince being there, the assassin will be reporting everything  directly back to the head of the secret department. Considering all that, I want you on your best behaviour. No potions will be written or made, no abnormal ingredients will be drawn. And you will not bring a single one of your magic possessions. You will not explore aimlessly the royal palace either, nor will you leave its grounds unaccompanied.

I am confident that you will not disobey my orders.

Now, concerning the assassin. She will be playing the role of your elder sister, and you shall address her as so.  You will not speak to her unless it is highly expected of you, but even then, I would prefer you find a way not to do so.

I have high expectations of you, do not fail to meet them.

      ~Sincerely, Your father.

It was the first time he ever said he had high expectations of her. It was also the first time he had used 'your father' to sign.

She started writing her response. She made sure it wouldn't give anything away.
