The sunlight shines through my car window as I debate whether to get out or not. I'm not exactly in the mood for classes today. I've been sitting in my car in the parking lot for ten minutes, absorbing the heat of the sun through my cold skin due to the morning breeze. I'm wearing my black pony sneaks, black cropped jeans and the black Nirvana shirt I stole from my best friend, Matty, ages ago.

I came from a very eventful weekend at my parents house, it was my sister's high school graduation so Matty and I drove there for the weekend since he's known my family for quite our whole lives because our parents are best friends as well. But of course he couldn't stay, so he left Sunday morning to do some class work for Monday which I doubt is true. Anyway, him and I pretty much do everything together. We spent most of our high school days just hanging out at each other's houses. We have mutual friends but it usually was only the two of us. We can't seem to stay apart from each other. Even now, we chose to go to the same college. Matty is everything to me. I remember, when we we're kids, we even vowed for me to be the best man at his wedding and him to be the maid of honor at mine, if that even worked.

I finally decided to get out of my car after fifteen minutes and walk to my dorm room. As I was unlocking the door, I heard a familiar voice call my name from down the hall. "Y/N!" It was Matty, jogging towards me. I glanced up at him before walking inside. He followed, closing the door behind him as he examined my appearance and made a fake disgusted face. "What happened to you?" I lied down on my bed and closed my eyes as I just sighed in response. "I'm tired, Matt. What is it?"

I felt the space beside me sink and opened my eyes to see him lying next to me with his head rested on one arm against the pillow. "Nothing. I just missed you yesterday, what's up?"
I grinned at him. It always amused me how he, Matthew Healy, the baddest playboy of the entire country would be so clingy to none other than his best friend like this. "Nothing. What about you?" I said as I shuffled to face him as I closed my eyes, feeling him do the same. "Nothing." I chuckled. "Well, this conversation seems to be pointless, then." I waited for a hilarious remark from him but he only hummed and breathed a "Yeah.." I open my eyes again only to find him staring at me with an emotion I couldn't quite describe. It was something new. It was something I haven't seen in Matty. He was always being funny, being annoying or just being loud. He was never quiet. Until now.

When he saw that I was looking, he immediately shifted his gaze towards the ceiling as he turned away from me. I frowned and sat up. "What?" He shook his head and furrowed his eyebrows. "Don't you have a class?" he said getting up from my bed. "Shit! I do." I looked at my wrist watch for the time and realized I had only five minutes to get changed and run as fast as I could to the other building before the class starts. "I'll walk you." he offered as I shuffled in my room, getting ready.

I was practically running and walking at the same time in the hallway as Matty tried to keep up with my pace, laughing. "What's so funny?!" I was annoyed. He found my fear of being late funny. "You." he said as he continued laughing and I continued walking. "You forgot we put your time fifteen minutes in advance!" he said loud enough for me to turn to face him. I slammed my face in my hand as Matty stared at me letting his laughter die down while he carried my book for me. I took it from him and hit him in the head with it, earning a groan from him as it was hardbound. "Ow! What was that for?" his accent suddenly so mesmerizing to me. "You had to watch me panic before telling me?" I glared at him as he said "You look cute when you get scared of being late." he chuckled. "It's like the end of the world for you." I rolled my eyes. I was to tired to even remember about my time. "You idiot!" I tried hitting him with the book again but he caught it with one hand and smirked. "Oh, I'm the idiot, am I?" I shook my head as I laughed with him and walked in a much slower pace, still on the way to my class.

As we walked and talked about the happenings of the past weekend, I realized he was more engaged in the conversation than ever. Well, he always is with me, being his best friend but, I haven't seen him like this before. He asked about my sister and where she's going to college and how my parents were doing when he left. Although he was always like this, he had to know every single detail about my day or about any other time he isn't with me. Even with boyfriends. I must say, he's a bit overprotective with me, even though that's the boyfriend's job. I laugh it off anyway. I just tell the guy it comes with being best friends since childhood. It is the truth though.
