Chapter 2
~~1 year later~~
Today is the first day of school.
It hits me like a train. Sure, I was getting ready, but that doesn't mean you don't always realize what you're doing. It's kind of like when you walk into a room, but forget why you even went in there.
I've always been homeschooled, for reasons I rather not remember.
I step out of my clothes, and look at myself in the mirror. My skin is always pale, except for when I burn. I don't tan, I burn. My eyes are grey. Boring old grey. I have brown freckles painted across my nose. They're light brown, so they're barely noticeable. My hair is thick, and flows down, just above my butt. It's mostly blond, with brown highlights. I never died my hair, they're just natural.
As for my figure, I guess you could say that I'm fit. At least that's what my brother says. I run a lot, so I guess it's kind of expected.
Today I decided that I was just going to dress I usually did. Black skinny jeans, a Fall Out Boy long sleeve shirt, and my black and white Vans. I mean, it's just school. Who am I trying to impress? No one. That's who.
This is my last year of school, only if I planned on going to college. I probably will, but more than likely take an online course, if I don't like it here. Which I am positive I won't.
Once I was done getting dressed, I started to head downstairs. My brother was in the kitchen, making my favorite kind of pancakes. Chocolate.
Something was up.
I barely made sound, as I made my way into the kitchen. Something I was used to doing. It just became a habit, from getting in trouble for making any noise. So when I came up behind me, it wasn't surprising that he jumped when I tapped his shoulder.
"Jesus, Fay. What the hell?!" He exclaimed. "How many times do I have to tell you not to sneak up on me like that?" He ran a hand through his blonde hair. His familiar chocolate brown eyes grew soft when he looked at me.
I smiled. "Sorry. You scare easy."
Jaymon smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. He put a plate of pancakes in my spot, and then started to load his own plate. I studied him, trying to figure out what was wrong.
"What's wrong, with you?" I asked, after finishing half of my plate. "Why are you acting so weird? First, you make pancakes, which taste delicious, by the way. And now you are staring off into space. You usually only do that when you are nervous, thinking up stupid scenarios about what could happen, or when you're tired. I know for a fact that you are not tired. I mean, you only slept for twenty hours yesterday. So what's wrong?" I looked at him expectantly.
He sighed. "I really didn't want to tell you until after school. I don't want to ruin your first day. Is it okay to wait?"
"Sure."
As Jaymon was headed to his car, when he came to an abrupt halt. He turned to me. "I forgot my backpack. I'll be right back. Wait in the car." He tosses me the keys.
I unlocked the door, and climbed into the passenger seat. I put the keys in the ignition and started the car.
Now that Jaymon said that he had something to tell me, I won't be able to concentrate. The way he told, said that it was something I wasn't going to like. I just hoped it wasn't going to be as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Jaymon opened the door, buckled his seatbelt, and headed off to school. The drive was pretty short, considering that we lived pretty close to it. About 5-10 minutes.
As we pulled into the parking lot, Jaymon got tense. I was about to ask him what was wrong, but we pulled into a parking spot and he jumped out. He ran over to my side, and offered his hand to me. I grabbed it, and he pulled me out of the car.
"I'll take you to the front office, where Jessica, the head office lady, will give you your schedule." He said. "Then I will show you around the school, help you get used to the halls." He took a deep breath. "Sound good?" I nod. "Okay, let's get this over with."
As we make our way to the front office, I can't help but see the flirty smiles he's getting from people, or the way people move out of his way. They keep trying to get his attention. I can't help but notice the glares I'm getting. By the time we actually get to the office doors, it has become really annoying.
I couldn't help but ask; "Why is everybody looking at you like you're the king of the world?"
He fakes a sigh of annoyance. "I can't help that I have my amazingly good looks, or my awesome personality." He gestures like he is flipping his hair over his shoulder.
I roll my eyes. "First of all your personality is crap, and you look like you rolled out of bed. You also smell like you just bathed in dog puke." I pretend to gag, and then proceed to back away from him.
He narrows his eyes at me, playfully glaring. We walk through the doors that read MAIN OFFICE. I turn back to my brother, who is still playfully glaring at me. I laugh at him, knowing he can't touch me. He knows that I will prank him back. I always have the best pranks.
We walk up to the front desk, Jaymon asking for the papers I need.
I'm so nervous, being in this building makes my anxiety go through the roof. I can't imagine what I'm going to go through when I don't have classes with Jaymon.
I was snapped out of my haze when Jaymon started talking to me. "Here, sis. This is your schedule and the map of the school." He handed me some papers. "Here is my schedule. Do we have any classes together?"
Jaymon is almost a year older than me, but with the way our birthdays lined up, we ended up in the same year. I couldn't be happier to see that we were in almost all classes together, except for two.
"Yeah, we have all the core classes together. Then we have German and photography together. Than the two classes I don't have with you is PE, of course, and Art. Why did you make me sign up for that again?" I raised my eyebrow at him.
"You're really good!" he replied. "One of these days you'll understand what I'm saying." He looked at the watch on his wrist. "Class is going to start in ten minutes. I'll walk you to Art, then come back and walk you to your next class. Sound good?" I nodded.
Just then the warning bell rand. Let's just hope luck decides to pick my side for once.
