Today was the day of the game, and Matt was excited. Matt bounced around the house put his clothes on and walked to school. When he got to school he went straight to his locker and put his books away. Then, he closed his locker and saw Paul down the hallway. He wanted to go to Paul and tell him how excited he was for the game but they were no longer friends. So Matt went to all his classes, and after school he got ready for the game.
The team warmed up and the game against the Yellow Devils got started after 30 minutes. The Yellow Devils were the worst ranked team in the state, so the game wasn't even close. Today Matt was starting and right from the jump Matt had scored 7 points in 1 minute and the game score was 10 to 0 and the Yellow Devils were losing. The game continued like this and after the second quarter Matt scored 30 points and the score was 50 to 10 and the Yellow Devils were losing. At the end of the game the score was 80 to 15 and the Yellow Devils lost. Matt had put up a career high in points and he was really happy, he scored 55 points.
After the game a lot of fans wanted to talk to him.
"Matt how did you score so many points?" said one fan.
"I don't know" Matt replied.
"How did it feel to blowout a team like that?" another fan said to him.
"It felt good." Matt replied. "okay no more questions." Matt continued.
On the walk home Matt felt good. He smiled the whole way, and when he got home he took a warm hot shower. He checked the mail, and his check came in. This check helped him pay his bills because of his situation, and it was from the government. So Matt went out and paid his bills. When he got back home he went straight to bed and started to fall asleep, but his phone rang. It was from the hospital.
"hello mom" Matt answered.
"Oh this is not your mom I am doctor Reyes." said the doctor.
"hello sir." Matt responded.
" We have bad news Matt." said the doctor.
"Okay what's the bad news, the breakfast cafe ran out of blueberry's?" Matt joked.
"No this is serious bad news." the doctor replied.
"Oh what is it?" Matt said.
"I'm afraid your mom has died Matt." said the doctor.
