The next day if school was weird. But not weird? I don't even know.
Matty was basically by my side the whole day and I was getting odd stares from people passing by. They just wouldn't stop looking. I mean it was only my second day of school I shouldn't be dead yet.
"Why are they all staring?" I whispered in his ear.
"Because I don't usually go for girls who aren't easy."
"Ouch."
"Not a bad thing sweetheart." What's that supposed to mean? Does he like me? Is he 'going for me'? I shook my head at the thought of some like Matty liking me.
I mean come on.
I had firey red hair that draped my back in tangled curls. I had very dark blue eyes and freckles plastered my nose and cheeks. I was short and skinny, but had barely any muscle.
Matty was like a powerhouse. He had gorgeous chocolate brown hair and piercing green eyes. His skin was flawless and tan. Plus he was tall and his muscles were as hard as a rock.
Plus he had every girl at school swooning over him.
And any guy in our school barely gave me a second glance.
I headed to lunch after class and sat by my newfound friends.
"Ohmygosh June you're the talk of the school!" Iris and Kalani said in unison. Must be a twin thing.
"What?" I asked, munching on some potato chips.
"You and Matt are like the rage right now." Iris said clearer this time.
"I don't know why." I knew exactly why.
"Because he's like the hottest guy in our whole entire school and he was talking to you." Andrea said smugly. I winced.
"Okay that's not what she meant." Delaney shot Andrea a glare. "She meant that you're the new girl. You know. Not supposed to talk to anyone. Super dorky. Has no friends? But you kinda broke the stereotype. You have a group of friends, you talk to us obviously, and I mean you're dorky but it works for you. Also the whole popular clique isn't supposed to notice you but you have Matt talking to you and everyone says Quinn is jealous of you."
"Quinn? Jealous of me!" I said, my eyes nearly popping out of their sockets and my jaw hanging to the floor.
"Close your mouth sweetheart. You'll catch flies." Matty smirked, walking past me to where he usually sits. My face immediately flushed crimson and I earned some looks of disbelief from the girls at my table.
"What?" I asked. Then all chuckled and shook their heads.
After I finished my food I went to dump my tray and as I was heading back I head the door behind me shutting. I looked through the glass pane and saw Matty pushing Quinn up against the wall in the hallway in front of me.
'Quinn? She's not so bad.' I remember Matty saying from the other day.
Yeah? She's not so bad? Maybe you only think that because you've been playing fuck buddy with her.
I tucked a stray red curl behind my ear and belt like I was going to vomit.
If he was like this with - that - then why did he act all sweet and mushy towards me last night?
I instantly felt as if I wasn't good enough. As I walked down an empty hallway, I found the bathroom and pushed the door open, falling to the hard tile floor in a ball of tears.
