50 REASONS WHY

ALFRED'S POV

It was finally Friday, family friday. School was finally at that point when it went from mildly exciting to boring with actual learning. Now I was sitting here at the dinner table with my favorite person in the world! Matthew was seated next to me, my dad sitting across from us. Hermione, my baby, was wagging her tail underneath the table and was nuzzling my leg, looking up at me with those eyes...Wellp there goes my dinner. Pfft, like you could resist a begging puppy! I wasn't hungry anyway.

Dad was the first to speak. "So boys. How was your week?"

"Fine." I mumbled. Matthew nodded and smiled politely.

Dad's eyebrows furrowed. "Whatcha learning in school?"

"In history we have to research all countries in the world." Mattie wrote.

"All of them?" He asked.

Matthew nodded.

"Alfred? What about you? What have you been learning?"

"Stuff."

"What kind of stuff?"

"Why do you care?" I rolled my eyes. "It's not like it matters."

Dad looked hurt. Matthew's eyes widened as he chewed some of his steak.

"...Alfred, I'm trying. I really am. Why don't you understand that?"

"I don't understand why you keep acting like you care. Ya, maybe you love us, but you don't care what we're learning in school. You just want to act like you care because you want to seem like a perfect father to the public."

Dad sighed. "Alfred. You're right," He smiled. "I don't give a crap about school. Let's get to the juicy stuff. Anyone you boys have an eye on?"

Matthew blushed. "No one in particular."

"Oh, so there is someone?"

"Um, well I guess we did have a moment at the skating rink..."

I narrowed my eyes. "What kind of moment bro?"

Matthew turned red. "Well we accidentally kissed but it was nothing really."

I gaped. "What?!" It was probably Gilbert, seeing as how they started getting close.

Dad giggled like a schoolgirl. (It didn't suit him) "With who?"

"It's a secret."

"Oh, come on, you can tell your ol' pops now, right?"

"Nope. Sorry dad, you're not cool enough."

"Hey, I can be cool!''

Matthew scoffed and got up, collecting plates and walking over to the kitchen with Hermione in tow.

Dad asked me if I had any special person in my life. I replied that Mikasa Ackerman was very important to me but dad didn't seem to get the joke. He thought she was a real person. Oops.

I twirled my fork on my empty plate. "Well actually there is someone." I smiled thinking back to Arthur and the face he made when school ended. He told me that he accidentally came out to his parents the other day thanks to Peter and wasn't keen on spending a weekend alone with his mom's boyfriend. Matthew's eyes locked on mine asking a silent question, met with a silent answer. "But we're keeping it on the down low." I winked.

Dad wanted to be cool? Then you make it seem like keeping a secret was cool. Classic. Dad nodded with a simple 'oh' and got up. I followed behind him and felt a buzz in my pocket.
