Here's chapter three, it's in some ways sorta a filler chapter, but in others it really does have a point!
Chapter Three
"Hey Sam, where are you? Sam?" The girl called out, trying to find her twin brother Samuel in the maze of the abandoned mansion that they referred to as home. Well, it wasn't there home really; it technically belonged to Wayne...
Ugh, Wayne Jefferson Adams, just his first name alone made a tidal wave of mixed emotions ranging from fear to anger to sadness and bitterness and practically every thing in between slowly rise up and then crash down on the shore that was her mind whenever it was mentioned, expect happiness, happiness was most certainly not an emotion that his name brought up. However was she happy that he was on trial for what he did and he was going to get a needle in his arm when he got convicted of it? Yes. She quickly pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind Way...., that man's trial, was the last thing that she should be concerned about right now. Right now what she should concern herself with the fact that the one and only five credit generator that they had to keep the power and electricity going in the run down house had busted...again, the previous problem with the rats, mice, and other various breeds of assorted animals had come back with a vengeance this time, and there was the ever present fact that...that...you know what no! She wasn't even going to think about THAT right now, it was by far the absolute last thing she needed to worry about on her already overfilled with worry and stress plate, and one of the last things she needed to do was add that on to it, besides the chances of it ever happening were practically a million in one.
Pushing all the thoughts to the deepest darkest corner of her mind, the girl continued to walk through the halls the echo of her footsteps on the worn tiles and her voice shouting for her brother bouncing against the chipped and peeling wallpapered walls the only sound. The girl let out an aggravated sigh of frustration when she didn't hear a response from Sam and her frustration grew when she looked at her watch and saw that she had been calling him for nearly five minutes.
Letting out a second sigh, the girl cupped her hands around her mouth and yelled again. "Samuel Phillip K...."She yelled, about to use his full name.
That however was stopped when she heard a voice behind her ask. "What's with all the yelling Serafina?"
Serafina jumped at least a foot in the air before whipping around to see none other then Samuel standing behind her. "God, how many times do I have to tell you not to do that Sam?! You know that I hate it when you sneak up on me!"
Samuel just shrugged and repeated his question. "So seriously what was with all the yelling Serafina?"
She rolled her eyes at him. "Oh, I don't know Sam let's see here...well the generator's out again, the rat, mice, cockroach and other various animals infestation is back, were out of any edible food again..." Serafina started, counting off on her fingers as she went.
Samuel shrugged. "So in case you haven't noticed Serafina, the generator's always going out, we never have enough food, and that infestation problem never really went away-just up to the attic it's not like it's anything new, we'll just do what we always do when these sort of problems happen."
What, live for months at a time with no electricity, deal with rats crawling across us when were asleep and beg and plead for food, Serafina thought, but decided against voicing that particular opinion.
Serafina repressed the third sigh that had been bubbling up inside her and was now threatening to come loose and instead opened her mouth to ask Samuel what he thought about the possibility....
Before she could utter out one word though, an ear piercing scream came from the direction of the living room and was followed by Allison promptly yelling. "A RAT! GET IT OFF ME! GET IT OFF! KILL IT SOMEBODY! KILL IT!" Loud enough so that they could probably hear her in the next town over.
Serafina's mouth clamped shut as she watched Samuel roll his eyes and turn around. "Yeah, yeah, calm down Ms. Princess I'm coming I'm coming!" He called, walking away while mumbling how much of a sacredly cat he could be when she had to have the most lethal power out of all of them.
Serafina considered for a moment to simply let the question she was about to ask go unsaid and forget about it, but she ultimately proved unable to do that.
"S....Samuel!" She called out somewhat weekly as he was about to descend the stairs to the first floor.
He paused with his foot on the first stair and turned to look at her, a questioning look on his face as he spoke. "Yeah sis?"
Serafina took in a large deep, slightly shaky, breath opening her mouth to explain to him the question that had been lingering on her mind since she first glanced at the shooting star only yesterday but quickly found herself unable to either find the right words or the amount of courage needed to spill her heart and soul out so openly and instead of the question that she had wanted to ask Serafina found herself blurting out. "How are you always so carefree?"
Samuel raised an eyebrow at her and looked like he was putting a great deal of effort towards not showing any amusement to her supremely idiotic question. It was several moments before Samuel spoke again, and Serafina, although not near anywhere close to having Allison's IQ, was smart enough in her own right to gather that Samuel was taking those moments to make sure that the uproarious laugh that was bubbling up inside him wouldn't escape when he finally did answer her question.
His response to her question however wasn't anything like Serafina thought it would be. "Well I don't really know Serafina, guess it's just in my nature, yours too if you tried hard enough to relax more. After all we are members of the oh so great and powerful K...."
Before he could finish his statement though, another loud ear piercing scream echoed throughout the halls. Samuel rolled his eyes once more before turning around and disappearing down the staircase, leaving Serafina alone to ponder her thoughts about Samuel's unusual response. Quite often all he did when answering a question such as that was ask if they were some variety of idiot or moron and forget that they ever asked it but telling her that was very....uncharacteristic of him. He didn't need to finish his statement for her to know what Samuel's point was though. He was putting emphasis on the fact that they were members of the K.....
A sudden movement across her shoe caught Serafina's attention. Looking down she saw the pink tail of a mouse disappearing into a hole in the wall. Letting out a sigh she slowly sank onto the worn and chipped marble tile on the floor and buried her head into her hands. At this moment in time Serafina believed that there was no possibility of their lives becoming any worse. If only she had known that thousands upon thousands of miles away in a place that she always fantasized about living in, a relative that she wasn't even aware she had was about to reveal something that would indeed make her already miserable life a thousand times worse . But of course it would do her well to remember the phrase there's always a blessing in disguise, because a blessing in disguise most certainly described the chaotic events that would soon happen in the near future....the very very near future.

That's the end of chapter three. Ah...I thought for sure that we would know their last names in this chapter....why did the author have to do that to us?! Why?!?! Oh wait, I'm the author and I did it because I felt like it, besides you should have a pretty fair guess on who they are by now. Chapter four will be extra extra long, and it's going to be mostly focused on Peter as....oh wait I can't tell you the plot of the fourth chapter that would ruin it! Guess your going to have to wait.
