The day she met Randhir was a day she would never forget. Who would have thought that one encounter would change everything she thought about herself? She was a selfish girl, who couldn't sacrifice anything for the love of her family or friend, but one meeting with Randhir brought out her true and pure self.
Randhir had come to visit the most beautiful place in New York with his newly bought DSLR camera to capture the beauty of the place. He took random pictures of the birds from varied angles, capturing significant sculptures along the way.
Nearly after an hour of sitting on a bench, drinking water with the camera hung on his neck, he went through his clicks. Every click was serene and delicate, but somewhere he was not satisfied because he couldn't call any of them his masterpiece.
He inhaled the air to ease off the pressure he was facing. Suddenly, his attention was caught by an enthusiastic voice.
"Look, it's so beautiful," the voice said.
He followed the voice and looked at the girl, his eyes fixated, unable to look away. It was when the girl disappeared from his sight that he came back to his senses and ran behind her with his camera still hanging on his neck.
The girl was busy with her friend, exploring the tourist place.
Randhir started clicking her photographs. He clicked one, two, and eventually clicked as many as he could until his actions were noticed by the girl. When he was caught, he looked away, trying to create a false scene but failed.
She gave him a stunned look, and Randhir gulped down his saliva. She walked a few steps and stood next to him, folding her hands on her chest. She glared at him, "Can I see your camera?" she said harshly.
Without another word, he handed her the camera. She looked at a few photos reluctantly; a curve of a smile formed on her face. The photos were so lively, natural, and without any formal efforts, she looked spontaneous.
"Sanyukta chodna hota hai," Piya said, looking at Randhir with sympathy.
"So you guys are Indian?" Randhir inquired, sounding surprised.
Piya gave Randhir an affirmative smile, and he smiled back.
"Just by birth," Sanyukta corrected, still looking at her pictures.
"Okay!" Randhir replied with a non-offensive tone, and Piya nodded her head with lips tightly shut together.
"Email them to me," she ordered. "sanyukta******@***.com," she added while returning the camera to Randhir.
"Are you sure?" Randhir's response came out barely above a whisper.
Her eyebrow arched higher, and Randhir got a perfect answer. "Sure," he replied, with a slight smile, accepting the camera from Sanyukta's hand.
"Thank you," Sanyukta replied and left the place along with Piya, while Randhir watched her go.
