Rockkit and Stormkit bounced out of the nursery. "RiverClan, attack them all!" Rockkit yowled. Stormkit threw himself at a ball of moss. Rockkit tripped over his bigger brother, causing them to tumble through the camp. "Rockkit! Stormkit! Come here at once." the sound of their mother rang through their ears.
"Coming," they grumbled. Ever since they opened their eyes, Fallowpelt has been extra-protective of her kits. Fallowpelt gathered her kits next to her side. "I don't want you roughhousing like that ever again," she warned. "What happens if you accidentally roll into the elder's den? I think Fishtail and Mooneye would not appreciate kits disturbing their sleep. Remember, we're running low on fish to eat- leaf-bare is arriving before you know it. You're only five moons old; be a bit more mature."
"Yes, mother," Rockkit muttered. "We won't do that ever again." He added in a small whisper to his brother: "Or will we?"
"Alright, that's enough," Fallowpelt meowed, hearing her kits' secret conversation under their breaths. "Within one moon, you'll become apprentices. Disrespect is a tragedy. Obey your parents and look up to the leader."
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join beneath the Elder Pine for a Clan meeting!" Marshstar's yowl could be heard throughout the Clan's ears. The elders grunted as they hauled their old bodies up; the warriors sat upright with respect, and the queens pricked their ears to listen. Rockkit and Stormkit strained to hear. "I wish I could be a warrior, right now," Stormkit mewed. "I wonder what it feels like to go into battle."
"Redpaw and Reedpaw have shown and exceptional work for five moons," Marshstar cut through Stormkit's words. "Ever since our Clan had been severely damaged during our fight loss with WindClan, Redpaw and Reedpaw have been helping a lot. I want to thank you two by giving you your warrior names."
"Lucky furballs," Rockkit muttered.
"Redpaw, from this day on, you shall be called Redfur. May StarClan guide you along your way."
"Reedpaw, from this day on, you shall be called Reedwhistle. May you serve your Clan well and honor StarClan."
Seedwhisker and Willowheart, their mentors, puffed up their chest in pride and called out to the new warriors: "Reedwhistle! Redfur! Reedwhistle! Redfur!"
"In other news," Marshstar said as the noise died down. "ShadowClan heard about the battle loss with WindClan, and they want to damage us even more. Warriors, we are in need- mentors, train your apprentices the best you could do. We must prepare for battle-before it is too late."
