A little girl was sitting beside her ill mother who was on the bed. She didn't want to leave her mother's side in the small empty room. It was void of furniture other than the bed and beside table, and the only fixture is a lamp that serves as a light source during the night.
Oddly, at a young age of six, the girl can understand complex words and how the world works. She is gifted with advanced intelligence, being more mature than kids her age.
Hearing the nurses chat with each other, she found out that her mother doesn't have much time in this world. Cries were inevitable, especially for a child.
The sun was rising, painting the sky a beautiful blue. It made everything bright and colorful. To the family, it was soothing to the eyes and it looked like another beautiful day where God won't take the mother yet.
The mother turned her head to her daughter, smiling weakly while trying to breathe properly. Her lips and skin were pale from the lack of blood. Her skin color was so pale that it highlighted her black hair that was naturally smooth and silky.
"Why don't you play with the other kids?"
The little girl shook her head. She was scared of everything. As a child, it was traumatizing to see her mother being abused by others. The woman would be beaten by her drunk and abusive husband. The girl would see this occasionally, and fear everything around her.
It wasn't like this in the beginning. The family was in prosperity with their business of food supply before. Unfortunately, one day, when the girl was three, the business went bankrupt.
The girl's grandfather suicided from all the problems that came after. And her uncle died from gambling with the wrong people. She and her mother was left in this harsh world. Desperate for shelter and food, her mother married a drunkard.
