There’s a smudge of ink on my certificate of Subordinance.
The printer glitched and left out a curve on the letter “m”.
It should say “Sigma”—a spelled-out version of my regiment.
Sigma (sihg-mah)—the eighteenth letter of the Greek alphabet; the eighteenth District of Delta Royale; the eighteenth Regiment of the Second Army. It appears a countless number of times on a thousand different documents for a million different things.
So why, on one insignificant documentation of an insignificant soldier, completely and utterly anonymous in such a massive country, would they glitch?
It’s just a little typo, but surrounded by perfection, it seems a monumental mistake.
