Chapter 9 - A Picnic

Yuu had to wait until after the exam (and after Kimizuki had finished calling him an idiot for being sent out of the exam) to tell them what had been written on the board.

"Oh Yuu-Kun..." said Yoichi, worried.

"What is it Yoichi?"

"Well clearly you haven't been getting enough sleep, and so you've started to see things. I'd recommend that you go to bed at eight tonight so you can have a proper-"

"No I wasn't seeing things" Yuu exclaimed. "It was really there!"

"So then, what do you want us to do?" asked Mitsuba.

"I think we should go"

"Why we? It only asked for you to go" said Kimizuki, folding his arms.

"Well... we could make a time of it" said Yuu.

"Oh, and when did the message say you have to be there for?" asked Yoichi.

"Er... it did-" began Yuu, but then he noticed a spillage on the floor that said 1 o'clock.

"It what?" asked Shinoa

"1 o'clock" he responded, pointing it out on the floor. Just as he turned back to the spill, it was being cleaned by the cleaner. Honestly, what was it with these messages and appearing and disappearing?!

"So... what are you suggesting?" asked Mitsuba, following Kimizuki and folding her arms.

"We could have a picnic on Saturday, and I could go to the bridge at 1 alone. Then it'd be fun for us and I could also meet this person for once and for all."

"What? Are you saying this has happened before?" asked Yoichi.

"Well there have been many messages, as well as a voice that I've been hearing calling my name."

"You sure that isn't me Yuu-Chan?~" cooed Shinoa, and Yuu sighed and headed out of school, ignoring the comment. 

"So then, we'll have a picnic on Saturday. Meet at 10 there to make a day of it, 'k?" he said, and they all nodded. Even Kimizuki grunted a yes.

The cuts on my arms and legs are almost down to the bone, but I'll go on. I have to reach my Yuu-Chan. He's getting so close now. He's taller than my outstretched hand. I can even see details of his face.

I had wondered why I could see anything here. There are no obvious lights around, and everything is pitch. But I figured it out. The light is from my Yuu-Chan. He shines and calls me too him, like a moth to a flame.

I will reach him, but the ground keeps falling away. The rumbling almost never ceases now. I fear he's close to the edge of the cliff, and that his time is running out. 

I can't let it be so. I must get there. I must keep my promise to Yuu-Chan. 

I will be with him again.

Saturday felt like a world away when there was still Friday to get through for Yuu. He sat, almost impatiently, watching the seconds tick by.

It feels like every second another foot or so of cliff falls into Hell.

He glanced to the others in the room, who quietly worked. Why couldn't he? Was this upcoming encounter seemingly important to him? But why? He didn't even know the person leaving ominous messages and speaking to him.
