It was an unusually warm day in February. The sun had finally come out and it was melting the last of the remaining snow. Liz slipped on a pair of mud boots, and headed out to water the cows.
Meanwhile, Tony Stark had just finished building his new prototype arc-reactor. Since he had heart surgery to remove the shrapnel in his chest, he has been trying to design a new type of power source for his suit. Now it was time to put it to the test.
Today was Pepper's birthday, and she was spending the day with her family in California. Tony thought it would be a good idea to surprise her by flying from the Avengers' tower in New York to her family's house in Sacramento. So, he suited up and left to visit Pepper.
Back in Iowa, Liz was busy enjoying her alone time. She enjoyed the noisy silence of the farm. She could hear the cows moo, the birds chirp, and the wind blow through the trees. She took a deep breath. Then, she heard something out of the ordinary. A loud boom that hurt her ears. She rushed out of the cow barn to find the source of the sound. To her right, was her grandparents' house. And to her left, was the cow pasture, where the cows graze in the spring.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw something. High above the pasture was a tiny black dot. At first she thought it was just a bird, but soon she realized it was getting bigger as it fell to the ground.
"What the hell?" she mumbled to herself.
As the object got closer and closer to the ground, she came to the sudden realization that the object falling from the sky was a person. The person continued to pick up speed until they finally landed in the cow pasture with a loud crunch.
Liz raced into action. She ran towards the crash sight, slipping through the pasture's electric fence in the process. It would have taken any normal person a couple minutes to get to the crash sight, but Liz got there in just 30 seconds.
"Ouch..." Tony groaned.
He tried moving, but the suit was too heavy, and the mud around him made him stick to the ground.
"Oh my god!" Liz exclaimed, when she realized what had happened. "Are you okay?"
Liz slid down the muddy side of the crater, not caring if her jeans and sweatshirt got dirty.
"I'm fine." Tony groaned, "Just a little stuck, is all. Do me a favor and press the button on my chest, will ya?"
Liz did as she was told and the suit opened up. Tony grabbed Liz's hand and she pulled him up. Tony wobbled a little bit on his feet, but Liz caught him before he fell.
"You sure you're okay?" Liz asked.
"Yeah, just a little dizzy." Tony replied, "You can only do so many front-flips as you hurtle towards the earth, before you get sick."
Liz chuckled. Tony leaned down and did something to the suit. It closed up, and the lights came on in the helmet before they fizzled out and turned off.
"Damn." Tony mumbled. "Hey kid, will you give me a hand?"
Tony leaned down and took one of the arms of the suit. Liz took the other and together the two carried the Iron Man suit back to the cow barn.

Tony immediately started to work on the suit. He didn't have much time before Pepper's birthday was over and he need to get in the air ASAP. While Tony was hard at work, Liz stood there awkwardly. She wasn't sure if she should interrupt him or just let him work.
"Are you just gonna stand there, or are you gonna help." Tony stated
Liz shuffled over to Tony.
"Well, what do you need?" Liz asked.
"Come here." Tony beckoned, "I need you to pull this wire."
"Why can't you do it?" Liz asked.
"My hands won't fit." He said.
Liz did as she was told. She grasped the green wire and pulled it out.
"What now?" she asked.
Tony ignored her and started messing with switches and wires, expecting something to happen. But nothing did.
"What's wrong?" Liz asked.
Tony mumbled something under his breath. So it can't be the arc-reactor, he thought, and it's not the calibrations system, so it has to be the fuel pump! Tony congratulated himself for figuring out the problem so quickly and turned his attention from the calibration system to the fuel pump. The latina girl who helped him out of the suit was already there. She was concentrated on the mangle of parts that Tony had put together in a hurry. She unplugged a few nozzles and rearranged some wires.
Suddenly, the suit started making a whirring sound, and the calibration system started to come online, followed by the arc-reactor. Tony let out a small chuckle.
"What'd you say your name was?" Tony asked.
"I didn't," said Liz, "You never asked."
She finished screwing on the top of the fuel container and whipped her oily hands off on her sweatshirt.
"I'm Liz, Elizabeth Jackson." She finished.
"Tony." he said, shaking Liz's hand
"Really?" Liz said sarcasticaly, "I think look more like a John or maybe a Robert."
Tony chuckled.
"Yeah," he joked, "I get that a lot. You know, most people think I look like Tony Stark."
"No, I don't see it." Liz said, sarcastically.
Tony was about to ask Liz how she fixed the fuel pump, but he was interrupted by J.A.R.V.I.S.
"Excuse me, sir. Director Fury has been trying to reach you."
"Just a second," said Tony. "I've got to take this."
He walked over to the helmet, and put it on.
"Yes, dear?!" He said with a smile. "I got held up. What's the problem?...............No can do, buddy. My armor is compromised. I'll need to repair it..........Not quite sure, have Banner track my G.P.S. signal.........Okay, see you then."
"What was that all about?" Liz asked.
"That was my rescue team." Tony said, taking off the helmet. "They should be here in a bit."
"Oh." Liz mumbled
"Unless, you want me to stay?" Tony suggested
"Hell no!" Liz yelled. "The sooner you get out of here, the better."
"What?! Aren't you going to miss me?" Tony said, batting his eyes.
"No, not really." Liz teased.
Tony scoffed.
Liz ignored him and refilled the cow's water so that they had a full tank of water. Soon enough, Liz and Tony heard the THUMP THUMP THUMP of the helicopter blades and they took the suit outside, where they were met with a group of people in matching uniforms. Tony said something to one of the guys and they took the suit into the helicopter.
"Well, guess this is it." Tony said, extending a hand out to Liz. "Thanks for the assist."
"No problem," Liz yelled over the sound of the helicopter, "No offence, but I hope I never see you again."
Tony laughed.
"Neither do I." He said.
Then Tony got in the helicopter, and just like that, he was gone as fast as he came.
