Beep. Beep. Beep.

What is that? I open my eyes. Why is it so bright? Why is there something in my nose? I lift my hand to my face. There is some sort of tube on my face that goes under my nose and behind my ears. I lift up my other hand and see a clip on my finger. I look around. Everything is white. The walls, the ceiling, the floors, even the curtains. Suddenly the door bursts open. I reach for my pen, but then I realize I'm not wearing clothes, I'm in a hospital gown. I'm in a hospital. My mom comes rushing in with Paul close behind her.

"Percy! We were so worried when you didn't come home last night. The doctor said you should be able to come home soon, he just wants to make sure all your vitals are good to go. Here," she handed me a box, "Since the power is still out I tried to make them like pancakes." I open the box. It's full of cookies. Blue cookies.

"Thanks," I say, "Why is there a chip clip on my finger?"

"That measures your heart rate, Percy," says Paul.

"Oh. Do you have any ambrosia or nectar with you?" I ask. My arm is really sore and there is three stitched up gashes running down my arm.

"Yes, it's in the car. It would be way to suspicious if you didn't have the stitches in your arm when the doctor gets here," says my mom. That makes a lot of sense.

There is a knock on the door and a tall man with brown hair walks in. He's wearing that white lab coat that all doctors wear and you can see a bit of his purple shirt underneath it. It's hard to read what his name tag says, but it looks like r.D neaBnr.

"Hello, Perseus, how are we doing today?" he asks looking at a clipboard though his glasses.

"Good, I guess. Can you call me Percy instead of Perseus?"

"Of course, now it says here that apart from the cuts on your arm, you have a minor concussion. It's nothing too serious." He takes the tube away from my face and the heart monitor off my finger, then turns to mom and Paul.

"You should wake him up every two hours to make sure he doesn't fall into a coma and here is his prescription for his pain medication. Take two pills in the morning and one pill at night for two weeks. By that time, his injuries should have healed enough that they won't need stitches to hold it together and they should continue healing on their own. After that bring him back so we can take out the stitches." He writes a few things down on his clipboard and then hands a paper to Paul.

"Alright, you're will be ready to go," says the doctor and he walks out of the room.

"That Dr. Banner is so nice," mom says. "I talked to him a few days ago when I was doing research for my next book." She hands me a clean shirt, underwear, and a pair of jeans. Then she pulls the giant curtain closed so I can get changed.

I jump out of the car and run up the hill towards Thalia's tree. The dragon, Peleus, had wrapped himself around it to protect the golden-fleece and the tree itself. He lifts his head as I approach. The afternoon sunlight is bouncing off his copper scales pretty much blinding me. He put his head back down when he realizes that I'm not a threat, but he keeps his yellow eyes trained on me as I hurry past him. I make my way to the large blue farmhouse at the bottom of the hill.

I spot Chiron and Mr. D sitting on the porch playing a card game. Once I make it to where they are sitting, I realize that they are playing pinochle.

"Would you like to play with us, Percy?" asks Chiron not looking up from his cards.

"No, it's okay. I don't know how to play," I say.

"This game is one of the greatest games ever invented by humans besides Pac-Man and gladiator fighting. Any civilized young men would be expected to know the rules," says Mr. D, "I believe I won this round."

"No, I won this round," says Chiron after he tallied up his points.

"Chiron, I need to talk to you. I think Zeus and my dad are fighting again. They almost destroyed New York City."

"Is my father having another hissy fit?" asks Mr. D

"Do you have any idea why their fighting? Has there been any new prophecies?" I ask Chiron ignoring the camp director.

"No, Rachel is off at school, so we would have no way of telling. But ever since the war ended, there haven't been any prophecies and nobody has seen Apollo," Chiron said distraught.

"Do you think we could Iris Message her right now or do you think it would be a bad time for her?"

"That's another thing, Iris Messaging stopped working this morning. We haven't been able to contact anybody."

"I guess I'll have to figure it out somehow," I say. "Did Blackjack make it back alright?"

"Yes, some of the kids from the Apollo cabin fixed him up earlier today."

"That's good. I have to go, mom and Paul are waiting on the side of the road."
