Later that day, when most where in their motel rooms, Quinn walked up to the Wolfion cage, getting ready to feed the beast. She walked into a room the size of a closet that was next to the glass cage. The room held different meat in different buckets with labels. Hmm... Quinn thought, looking at all of the buckets. I suppose that the deer would do tonight, she finally decided, picking up a grey bucket by the handle labeled Deer. She walked out another door from the room that had steps going up to the roof of the glass cage. Quinn climbed it, ending up standing on glass, which felt like nothing because it was see-through. She opened trapped door and dropped the meat in. She stood up there waiting for the Wolfion to eat. But, for some reason, it didn't. Climbing down the steps, she thought that the Wolfion was a misunderstood creature, a thing of beauty when most would say a monster. It reminded her of when she was a child and everyone she knew was afraid of snakes. She loved snakes-beautiful creatures that slither and, sometimes, swim.
The sun had set once Quinn was in the parking lot. She had just fed the Slonkey-sloth and monkey-right after the Wolfion. Once she had opened the door to the motel room, she realized something that made her stomach turn inside out. The Wolfion she had been feeding, she named it Scarlet, always ate her dinner. She never had breakfast, for the animals only ate once a day. So why would Scarlet not eat and not be in her cage?
"Bad day?" Sheldon asked. Quinn shook her head and saw her twin brother sitting on the floor, meditating.
"You started that again?" Quinn asked, looking at her brother.
"Well, yeah. I wanted to meditate today, relax." Sheldon then closed his eyes again and took a deep breath in, exhaling through his mouth.
Quinn jumped onto the bed and laid down, trying to go to sleep. After ten minutes or so, Sheldon joined her and they quickly fell asleep.
By 10:00 PM, everyone was asleep. The animals, except for the nocturnal ones, were resting, too.
There was only one animal that wasn't sleeping-the Wolfion, Scarlet. Instead, she walked around in the forest, looking for something. Then, finally she found him, the male Wolfion, the one Ted took care of. He gave him the name Crimson
Got away from the cage? Scarlet asked, her nose pointing at the ground, looking at her mate.
If I didn't, would I be here? Crimson's mental voice was deep and serious, with a bit of comedy.
I get it, not you. You get Ted.
