It all happened so fast. I had to be at the casino for a couple months, at least. Life was good there, no zoms to be found, and everything had been joyful. Like before the plague. Lexi and I got close again, I now can recall everything that happened between us.
"Hey Matt, do you think you and me will get away from this place?" Said Lexi as she was preparing drinks for tonight.
"Why do you want to get away? Life is great here. There's enough supplies, and entertainment to last us a decade."
"Its not about the supplies, or even the entertainment. Matt, you know why I want to leave." She said this with a sadness, a passion that made me think twice about what I should say. I knew why she wanted to get away, I knew why, even with the great life here, she wanted to run away.
"Let me gather some supplies, and get some weapons. We're leaving tomorrow." I didn't want to leave, but if she wanted me to I'd move a mountain. I just now realized that I haven't had a weapon since the day I first arrived here. I remember the man who beat me when I first got here, because I wouldn't cooperate. They wanted to know where I came from, if there was others, why I came there, and how many people I've killed. I refused to answer them, it didn't matter who it was then, but since I didn't cooperate they just said to forget it. The man who beat me, we're really good friends now. His name is Keagan. If Lexi ever decides to ask me those questions again, I'll answer her, but she won't.
"Oh thank you so much! I'll have to te-" I cut her off.
"You'll tell no one, If anyone knew we were leaving we'd have the whole town on our backs." I didn't mean to be so harsh when I said it, but I was.
"Oh okay... Sorry." She was sad, so I tried to cheer her up.
"Remember. We leave tomorrow by Three-o-clock. No later."
