I was crouched rigidly in the shadows as I listened intently and watched my two suspects.
The girl, (whom I've been informed's name is) Alexis shoved many articles of clothing into a duffel bag. Her naturally brown hair now a light blonde colour. She basically ran to the dinky mirror in the corner of the room. As she turned her back to me I noticed a belt holding a gun. My current spot (which is up in the rafters of the warehouse) has not yet been identified. I clutched my Sniper Rifle closer and I looked through the eyepiece on a close up of the suspects.
Suspect number two, David looked at Alexis with a scared look. Alexis put something in her eyes and when she turned around her eyes were no longer hazel, they were blue.
David sighed in an irritated manner, "What are you doing Alexis?" He put his feet up on their old coffee table, looking nonchalant. But, my trained eyes could see that he was scared. His eyes twitched back and forth and I could see some perspiration starting to form on his forehead.
Alexis looked at him and then pulled out a gun from her belt. I quickly switched off the safety silently.
"What are they doing?" my accomplice, Sean whispered through the earpiece. He was my right-hand man, my tech guy. He was always there for me.
At this moment I didn't really appreciate his talking as if I responded I could risk getting my cover blown.
So, instead of talking I ignored him and focused on Alexis and David.
According to S.S.S. (Secret Spy Service) 's files, David was the guy who could get you anything you needed and he knew everyone. But of course, there was a price. As for Alexis, she was his "muscles" I guess you could say. She has a record of criminal activity and was sentenced to a life in jail. Yet, she pulled some strings and David sent some of his men to go get her. She was now his number one guard.
Yet, by the look David had in his eyes he knew the number one rule in this business. "Trust no one for, loyalty and trust mean nothing." And by the constant tapping of his foot, he was expecting her to turn on him; and that was exactly what she was about to do.
I have been tracking Alexis Maleer for three months and after much research and hacking (done by Sean) we have been able to locate her and pinpoint what her next move was.
"Well, David I'm just cleaning up a mess I've made," Alexis hissed as she pointed the gun at him.
David forces a chuckle, "Alexis, baby! I've done so much for you and this is how you repay me?"
I wanted so bad to pull the trigger but, I had to wait for Sean's "go". See, while this was happening Sean was busy hacking their computers and he needed their voices to activate it. Stupid voice activating computers. Although after he gets the right set of words he'll be able to delete all of the Top Secret files they had on their computer.
Alexis hesitated before she cryptically told him, "You may have broken me out of prison but, you placed me in a worse cell."
She clicked off the safety. And just as I was about to make a distraction Sean yelled in my ear, "Go!"
I shot the gun out of Alexis' hand and then shot her leg causing her to gasp in shock and fall to the floor clutching her leg. S.S.S. believed in no killing so, I had to shoot places of the body to just... stop movement.
David stood up and looked around fearfully. I quickly shot him in his leg too. With that, I jumped down from the rafters and said into my watch, "Mission successful. Send in the clean up team."
As soon as those words left my lips a bunch of S.S.S. agents came in using the windows and doors gently not making a sound. They took Alexis and David into custody to be taken to court and the others began to take a bunch of items and put them into "Evidence" bags. And those unlucky few were left to clean up the blood.
I strapped my sniper rifle into its rightful place, on my back. Sean came rushing in with his tousled dirty blonde hair and he whooped in joy, sadly I didn't feel the same victory as him. "Another mission done," he screamed as he came up to me and ruffled my black hair. I scowled at him and put a strand of my blue highlights behind my ear. Yes, my hair is black with navy highlights. Deal with it.
I slid off my black sunglasses and looked at him. He noticed my dim mood and asked, "What's wrong, Ava?"
I gave him a lopsided smile, "I guess I'm just missing my normal life. I'm just so tired of this!"
Sean joined the agency when he was 19 so he had the whole high school experience. He was now 21. I, on the other hand, joined when I was 14 and I was now 17. I vaguely remember joining because my parents had egged me into it when I was younger (they were hackers like Sean) and I joined S.S.S. full time because they needed me full time. I never got to go to high school.
"Love you too," he grumbled.
I smiled at the man I considered my older brother and replied, "You know what I mean."
"No, I don't," Sean said as we walked to his black car.
I sat down in the passenger seat. Sean got into the car and started driving. Finally, I responded, "I think I'm done hiding in the shadows..."
Sean looked at me with questioning eyes once he stopped the car at a red light. "What do you mean Ava?"
"I-" I paused before continuing, "I think I quit."
Hey!
This is Ny! I have decided (with the help of Ro's comment) to make this a book. This was originally a short story from my "Short Stories" book. I just enjoyed writing this one so much I put the option to make it a book up.
Hope you enjoyed it!
Until next chapter,
