When I came to I was on a bed.
A dream? I thought to myself taking comfort into the thought and snuggling into the soft comforter that was on top of me erasing the memory.
Wait a minute... I don't have a comforter
At the sudden realization I threw the thick blanket off the bed and then myself. I scanned the chamber I was in lavender striped wallpaper, a canopy bed, a white vanity mirror and table with a vase full of repunzels. The windows were covered in white lacy curtains and the sunlight shew out of perfectly. It was beautiful but it wasn't my room.
"Where am I..." I whispered to myself.
"One of our guest rooms," said a voice behind me.
I turned to see a guy leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed. He was tall with short jet black hair that fell just above his royal blue eyes. He wore a white button down with black jeans. He was actually pretty attractive.
"Good morning and welcome" he stepped in and extended his arm. "My name's Lucas," he said.
"Your contractor."
My eyes went from his hands to his face and then back to his hands.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I just told you," he cocked his to the side with a smirk that said are you stupid? His arm was still extended
"Tell me again I didn't hear you well," I cocked my head like he did and gave him the same stupid smirk.
He glared at me, closed his eyes and sighed putting his hand down.
"Fine." He leaned on the wall and crossed his arms in annoyance.
"And please elaborate I'm pretty slow," I said with a pleased smile.
He muttered something under his breath and started.
"My name is Lucas I am--"
"Do you have a last name," I interrupted
"That's not important right now."
"Why n--"
"Shut up" he hissed his eyes were threatening and made me shrink down into one of the bed pillars.
This guys scary
"I'm not scary just annoyed," he mumbled
"How'd you--"
"May I continue?" he interrupted.
I simply nodded and sat back on the vintage bed bench with my arms crossed glaring at him.
"Thank you," he said. "So as I already said my name is Lucas and I'm your new contractor. I was your mother's but you see how that turned out..." his voice trailed off and he slowly moved his gaze to my bewildered face. "You have no idea what happened last night do you," he whispered in shock.
I shook my head that shocked face he made soon turned into annoyance. "Why the hell didn't you tell me," he scratched head muttering explicitives.
"What happened last ni...." I gripped my stomach as it all came back to me the fire, the pizza guy, the beast that I thought was my mom. I was feeling nauseas and ready to pass out it was late in the afternoon and I didn't eat anything the night before.
"You guys are so weak," I heard him mutter
"Wha-" before I could speak he grabbed my arm.
"Come with me," he spoke softly and pulled my wrist toward him.
His hand was warm and soft but strong so I couldn't pull out no matter how hard I tried and my feet simply followed.
He brought me through an everlasting corridor and down a flight of stairs.
Sheesh. How big is this place anyway
"Bigger than you're used to yet smaller than you think," Lucas said facing forward. Before I was able to question how he knew my thoughts he stopped.
"We're here." he let go of my arm and I took in our surroundings. The kitchen we stood in was like the super chic lofty ones you'd see on tv. The floor was covered in black and white tiles, the granite counters and dark cabinets were on opposite sides of the wall and, the stove and sink rested beside the white French door refrigerator at the back. Lucas led me to the island in the middle that tied the whole room together and pulled out a barstool.
"Sit."
I glared at him for a while I hated being told what to do. He looked down at me with those icy blue eyes his facial expression unchanging and remained neutral. He was pretty handsome I couldn't lie. His lips curled into a slight smirk and I felt heat rise up to my face in embarrassment. Eventually I forfeited the staring contest and complied to his order. The seat was very cold but the leather cushion made it easier to warm up. With a smile Lucas turned around and headed for the fridge.
"So what would you like to eat?" he said grabbing onto the handle.
"Anything is fine," I didnt care about what he gave me I just wanted food in my system pronto.
With a raised eyebrow he pulled out an ivory colored bowl from the cabinet. "Give me a minute," he said as he went into the refrigerator.
I rested my head in my hands and felt my temples. My head ached and I was getting dizzy. My stomach felt like it was trying to eat itself out of my body. A groan escaped my lips and I closed my eyes. Why was I so hungry?
"Hey, here."
I opened my eyes to see Lucas pushing the bowl toward me his eyes full of concern. I looked down at the bowl. It was filled with strawberry yogurt with fresh raspberries and crushed granola sprinkled at the top. I looked up at Lucas as he handed me a spoon.
"Sorry, its not really filling but I didn't want you to wait too long and this would probably be easier to eat," he sat on the stool beside me and rested his head in his hands and looked away. I stared at him. His eyes shifted towards mine instantly reminding me about a stomach I had to fill. I looked down at the bowl and inserted the spoon picking up some of everything. I took a bite and my eyes widened.
This is good I thought as I quickly cleared out the contents of the bowl.
"Thank you," I said softly suprised at my own sudden shyness.
"You're welcome," he said. "Now, let me start by introducing myself...again," he turned the stool to face me.
"Ok so I'm Lucas. I'm a demon from this place called the Netherworld," he spoke slowly as he stared into my eyes.
I stared at him and couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "Hah I love how you said that with the most serious face," I couldn't believe this guy.
He wasn't smiling. "Clarissa I know it sounds bogus but you have to believe me," his voice was uncomfortably serious.
"Prove it," I said with a taunting smile. "Show me your demonic powers."
With a sigh he grabbed my hand and dragged me out the back door to the backyard it wasn't anything special just grassy field.
"So how much proof do you need?" Lucas began to unbutton his shirt.
"Wait why are you taking off your shirt," I felt the blush rise in my cheeks as he slid his shirt exposing his bare torso. He had a tattoo of a flame that went up from his elbow to his shoulder. It spiraled up his arm in a whimsical pattern.
"My face is up here," he said with a smirk. "Watch me ok," he walked into the middle of the grassy field and closed his eyes.
"What are you do..." my voice trailed off as I stared in awe at the scene infront of me. Lucas' eyes were open now but they were a fiery red and two gorgeous, ebony wings came out of his back just like that night.
You were the pizza guy weren't you...
He came up to me with a smile and whispered in my ear.
"You're pretty slow."
