I sucked in my breath as we exited the restaurant because I soon found myself in my minuscule apartment. I was certainly not used to the teleportation thing. Everything looked exactly how I left it the night before. I walked into the dining room to see that the pizza was still there. I opened the box to see the cheese and pepperoni pizza in one piece just chilling.

Literally.

The pizza was ice cold.

Weird...

Now that I thought of it... The entire room was cold. I passed through the beaded entry into the kitchen.

Freezing. We never turned on the A/C and it was early fall which was usually pretty warm.

Why was it so cold?

I felt an uneasy shiver roll down my spine. The air felt heavy as if there was something surrounding me in a thick miasma. Suddenly it didn't feel like my home anymore. I don't want to be in here.... It's suffocating me.

"This isn't a good place for you to be in," Jinx's voice cut into my mind and his hand pulled me through the beads.

I closed my eyes out of short-lived fear and gently began to open them when I felt myself being bathed in a new found warmth.

It felt so nice...

We were sitting in grass in front of a shimmering silver lake. Dead Water got its name from the rivers never running and lakes never swaying just sitting in the same spot. The bodies of water all had a deep grey hue as if they were the faces of the dead. It didn't make sense how they didn't move themselves yet never ran out of water.

This is lake was no different. Same grey. Same lack of movement.

But very pretty.

The grey was lighter, almost silvery, and the water glistened in the sun.

It was a calming scene and I almost forgot about reality until I heard Jinx clear his throat.

"Are you okay."

"Yea," I said. "I'm fine," I tore my eyes from the diamond lake and looked around. We were in a wooded area, probably a park. I don't know much about Dead Water parks since I rarely went out. "Where are we exactly?" I asked Jinx.

"Silver Park," he replied.

Dumb name. Like everything else in this damn forsaken town... fucking dumb. Silver is just another shade of grey. Whoever named this park silver is a shallow prick who needs to drown in the very lake they named.

If I was on the darker side of the contractor spectrum I would make you my bride.

I felt my cheeks heaten at the sound of Lucas' voice echoing in my head.

"Ugh," I groaned. "Get out of my head."

I heard a distant chuckle and glanced up at Jinx who had a silly smile plastered on his face.

"Dont laugh at me," I hissed at him.

I turned to face the grinning demon who was standing on a tree a few meters behind us. His black wings were slowly retracting into his back.

"You flew here?" I asked.

He glared at me with hooded eyes. I could sense the toxic sarcasm on the tip of his tongue and braced myself for its sting,

"Yeah."

I snapped out of my mind and examined his visage. It was dark and unreadable.

What happened over there? I wondered

"Don't worry about it jus know that we have to go...." Lucas walked swiftly toward me and grabbed my hand.

"What a-"

"No time to talk," Lucas said as he took flight into the sterling lake dragging me with him.

As our bodies hit the surface of the water I could see a smirk on Jinx's face as he faded into the atmosphere.

"I'll meet you guys there."
