Writing music helps me escape the world, pretend I'm not even there. And just focus on my own thoughts. But that same annoying voice kept coming back and talking while I tried to focus. I opened my right eye slightly before letting out a breath.
"What do you need now Josh?" I asked in a bored tone.
"Do you have anything so far?" he asked for the millionth time.
"I would if you would stop asking me that same stupid question."
He put his hands up in surrender as I turned back to the piano keys. Yup, that's Josh, my best friend. We've known each other for the longest time. He never had many friends when he first moved to our school, so I decided to talk to him. And now we're here: roommates in our own apartment.
He constantly dyes his hair different colors (right now it's red), has tunnels, a nose ring, sleeve tattoo. I see why people would be hesitant to talk to him. But he's the nicest person I've ever met.
I played a few notes before adding the chords behind it as I closed my eyes again. I played a little longer before I was taken back into the real world. I opened my eyes and looked at Josh, who smiled in return.
"That was good," He complimented which made me smile in return, a burning feeling hitting my cheeks right after.
Although I love Josh as my best friend, I've also had feelings for him for the longest time. And I can't help it. The way he smiles, how he crinkles his nose when he makes a face, how he bites his lip when he talks to me. Even when he bites his tongue when he laughs. Not to mention his really nice body.
It's just everything about him. I would've told him a long time ago, but he's had a girlfriend since the summer after our first year of college. And they aren't breaking up any time soon. Her name is Ashley. She's really nice and is pretty much perfect for Josh, which is why they've been together for such a long time. I'm not exactly sure how long though.
"Hey Josh?" I spoke up and he looked at me.
"Yeah?"
"How long have you been dating Ashley?"
"6 years. Why?"
"Just wondering."
Yeah, 6 years. I didn't want to ruin their relationship, so I didn't tell him. I might one day but I doubt it. Right now? Not even close.
