Elena's slumber was quite different to what you may imagine. It was no dreamless sleep, without time passing. She felt every moment of her time asleep. If she was touched, she felt it. If she was moved, she felt it. She could also hear everything that was around her, human hearing of course. Elena had expected it might have felt like this but what she did not not expect is to be able to see through her eyes. It was probably the only plus about her slumber- and the fact that she could create dreams in her mind that felt like real life. It occupied her most of the time, she could spent months in the same dreaming living like reality. But she could feel it. She could feel the awful chill of the coffin she was in. No matter how she tried to warm up- from the Bahamas to Spain- Elena was constantly cold. It was this that made her feel how much she wanted to be warm, snuggling in Damon's arms in the Salvatore mansion, right next to the fire of course.
Many times she had tried to imagine what the world would be like in 60 years when she finally woke up. She imagined seeing Stefan and Caroline ageless, just how she saw them last. There was even a small part of her that would be excited to see Enzo. She imagined all the tears she would shed at the loss of all her old, human friends- Bonnie, Matt and even her little brother Jeremy. The last time she felt that lost she turned off her humanity, so atleast this time she can't. And what she was looking forward to the most was obviously being with Damon. She imagined running into his big, strong arms- them both in tears. She imagined the passionate kiss they would exchange and even the nasty things they would do in bed.
In her head, her future life would be perfect. But the reality was something she could never imagine. The horrors that awaited her and her friends would destroy them all for good.
