"Elena! Elena! Wake up!!" Braeden was shouting frantically, shaking Elena awake. To Elena they were distant echoes as she slowly woke. She opened her eyes, blinking repeatedly in the hope that this was another one of her dreams. It was not.
Elena slowly sat up and began to ask, "What happened? Where are we? Where's Bonnie? Where are my friends? And what did you mean about me?" She gasped sharply as she hadn't breathed throughout the rant.
"Not short on questions are you?" Braeden chuckled through her sarcasm. "I promise I will explain everything later, but for now I need you to trust me. There's a war going on Elena, and the good side is losing." Braeden's face lost all emotion as she spoke, and Elena thought that she must be telling the truth.
"Why is there a war? What do they want?" Elena's concern was only a worry for her dear friends.
"You." Braeden replied.
Elena was stunned. She had no idea what to say or do so she sat there, mouth gaping open, stuttering random syllables. Elena truly believed everything Braeden told her, even with a lack of understanding and information. The mere thought of her being the cause of more hurt made Elena feel like crying all the water in the world- but she found a strength to resist in her motherly like instincts. She wanted to protect others who would fight.
