Surprise, Surprise~

I hear a groan. Oh, wait, no that's just me. Man......it feels as though I've been hit in the head with a brick....several times! Something feels....off.

Last night! There-there was-!!

Getting up quick, I ignore the overpowering dizziness and jump out of.....my bed? Hold up a minute here. Something's not quite right. Is this my room? I look around me. I see my green, queen sized bed pushed up against my window wall. Next to it is my desk, with a lamp light and most probably homework that never got finished. My own little t.v. and xbox are right where I left them. My soccer ball is sitting next to my bag, right beside my closet door. Everything seems to be in place.

I walk out into the second floor of my three-story house. The hallway looks normal. I can see all three of my sister's bedrooms and the two bathrooms at the opposite end of the hall. In front of me are two staircases, one that leads to the master bedroom upstairs, and one that lead down into the living room. Still the same. How come I feel more nervous than if I were somewhere else?

I head downstairs and follow the scent of burnt bacon. So, Mom's cooking again? I enter our huge kitchen that takes up a third of our downstairs. The other two thirds are taken up equally by our living room and our party room.

I make way for the dining table, which is ridiculously long, only to see all of my sisters and my father sitting at the opposite end, having what looks like and important discussion. They still haven't noticed me yet. Which doesn't surprise me. In the kitchen part of the room, Mom is humming and dancing around the kitchen with her back to me. Her beautiful wavy, blond hair is short now. It barely covers her neck. I can see her pale skin, which I had inhereted....she has goosebumps from the chilly morning air.....I can practically hear her heartbeat......veins.....warm, fresh blood bumping through them......

My body goes slightly rigid. Suddenly, all I can see is red spots and other colors, but I don't focus on them. Only the red. I'm really thirsty. Parched. It's like I haven't had a drop to drink in months-no, in years, yet I....I like it. This...feeling....it's.....

" BRINK, GET YOUR NASTY BUTT OVER HERE, YOU-Brink?" I jerk my head down. What was that? I blink several times to get my vision back to normal. Wait, was someone calling my name?

" Brink, honey, what's wrong?" I look up sharply, only to see my mother right in front of me wearing a look of concern. " Brink?" Her clear blue eyes reming me of an angel.

This time, I fling myself backwards, startled. I topple over a chair and hit my head against the table. Okay, now THAT hurts. A lot. My eyes water on reflex and I hold the back of my head in my hands.

" Brink! Oh,  Nimue, darling, would you mind getting an ice pack?" I can hear my mom ask my third-oldest sister.

" Sure, sure," she replies, just as carelessly as always.

I look up and see the rest of my small family standing around me. My father is the only one still sitting down. This time he's reading a newspaper. My oldest sister, Ebony, who's turning 22 and is still living  with us, is crouched down next to me, and examines my wound. Standing at her full, superhuman height next to our short mom, is my second oldest sister, Enigma. She's home from college for the holidays.  She's 20 and she is 6'1". Like I said, superhuman height. That I did not inheret. Nimue is, as I have said before, my third oldest sister. She's just about the most normal person in our family. Or, she would be, if she wasn't such a tomboy. Ebony takes after our father mostly. She has our mother's wavy blond hair, just like all the girls in my family, but her's reaches the floor. She is average height for her age, and very slender. However, Ebony is more business than anything. She plans on taking over our father's business, but he wants me to do that. Eugh, paperwork. Enigma isn't really much like her name. She's very shy, and her hair is in a bun. At. All. Times. It's always been like that ever since I can remember. She has our father's height and his green, green eyes. We have such nice girls in our family, it's strange how Nimue turned out the way she did. Nimue has a mohawk. A blonde mohawk, with various colors in it. She usually wears a baseball cap, and plays sports with all her guy friends. She's a senior this year, but she doesn't look like she'll be passing anytime soon. All the of my sisters have our father's eyes, while I have our mother's. I am also the only one with our mother's height. Which means I'm short.

*Laters*

Half an hour. That's how long it took for Nimue to get me an ice pack. Half an hour! I knew she hated me, but still.......ugh......my head really hurts.

By the time Nimue even bothers to come back, the rest of us are already seated. And then, then, she decides to throw the entire freakin' ice pack at my head-like a baseball!!!

With a sigh, I gingerly hold the ice to my head and look at my father and mother who are sitting right across from me. Once Nimue takes a seat, silence ensues.

Until-" Brink." Ah, there it is. Good ol' Mom, coming in to break the ice. I look at her, biting the insides of my cheeks and trying to forget my earlier thoughts.

" There is something your father and I would like to tell you."

" Now, we have already told your sisters, so they already know, but we don't want you to get upset." I hope I get my dad's deep voice when I get older.

" Before we tell you this, we want you to know that we will always love you just as much as we ever have, alright?" Oh no. Oooooohhhhhh no. Mom's getting teary eyes. I look to dad for an explanation, but he's looking down at the table.

" What is it?" The suspense is killing me. Is there something wrong? Does this have to do with what I was thinking of earlier?!

" Brink, you...." come on Mom just SPIT IT OUT!

" Oh, for the love of all that is good and evil! Son! You are about to become an older brother!"

FINALLY! YES! I GET TO BE THE ONE TO TORCHER THE YOUNGER SIBLING! HA-HA!
